So i am closing in on lvl 40 on my warrior.. and yes i am wearing brig like all the other ruffiens in the game :D
But then i started to think.. why on earth do i even have the option to choose "lightarmor" when i can have heavy with no penalty.
NCsoft must have a reason to let me be able to choose light instead of heavy.
So please give me a hand.
Please say what you think about... Light or heavy, on a human Gladiator?
What you think is best?
Have you tried Light on a Gladiator?

While I haven't known many Glads that have tried light (they always choose heavy), I've known a lot of THs that have tried heavy and prefer it to light armor. Take from that what you will.
Of course if you party often and aren't tanking, maybe going Plated Leather and Doom Light would be beneficial to your DDing.
From experiance i would recomend strongly, if you can afford it, the plated leather armor set. the STR+4 CON-1 is just amazing for a glad which is a DD not a tank class. If you buy PL u can buy all ya light armour masteries makeing you have high evasion for complety avioding damage as well as the 100 or so extra p atk ull get. I would say use PL set for 40-52 as a glad, go for the quick kills. When at 52 tho ull need defense so chose heavy.
However dont choose PL set if ur gunna tank or solo.
I used PL set from 40-52 and was hitting for awsome dmg combined with duel spirit swords SA health incase i got hit. I was never the tank in my party.

These numbers are taking straight down from the blue...
A monster hits you in heavy armor for 80dmg and hits you 9/10 times so he does 720 dmg on you.
A monster hits you in light armor for 120dmg and hits 6/10 times so he does 720dmg on you.
This is how i imagene that light and heavy works. Is this right to think this way?
Yea and as a glad your not using a shield so your evasion can get quite high, find youself an EE and sws and your laughing :P

Well with light armor ur evasion will be way higher then wearing heavy armor because of the light armor bonus's. You cant hurt what u cant hit. But i do understand what your saying... people will hit you and when they do its going to be heavy. The only reason i would see someone making a light armored gladiator is because its cool because gladiators wore light armor and if they were going to pvp vs 2hand weapon people to evade their slower attacks and bowsman.

question should be heavy or PL set.
PL set has (probably) the best bonuses for a non A grade set. +4 str is amazing bonus (esp traded to -1 con, as glad you have nice con to start w/). So unless you tank in your group; PL suits you very well, esp w/ VR. Even in B grade you can probably use PL when you have VR3.

the PL set is awesome, the A grade SR in my clan still solos with it.
I was in heavy when I was in C grade just because it was borrowed to save money. But looking over the armor bonuses, the light seems more fitted for a glad.
I was in tallum heavy going for the atk speed, but I realized that I barely swing during a pvp till my mp runs out, so I sold the set to a clannie and sporting zubei light atm. Was able to beat a higher lvl warlord with the zubei cause of the evasion :) But mages drop me pretty quick if I dont get close. Just gotta pick which route you want to go.
If u wanna pvp vs mages go and and buy urself a cheap armour set with m def+5%. i usually carry some in my WH so at arena i can just click on the NPC and whip it out.

Another question. Is it a good idea to wear light if i am going to solo?
And what kind of monsters should one hunt then?
Low HP, low XP mob, for fast kills?
Advice would be helpfull :D
Dont solo in light unless you got buffs or an outside healer. Or unless you can afford to spam health potions.

But dont really the evasion almost compensate for the lower P.def ?

Here is the deal. Humans have low dex compared to other classes. You wont evade much to make it worth while, unless you have zubei leather which gives additional evasion. TH get evasion passives so it works out for them but for gladiators you won’t evade that much. I tried Doom light and got buffed with agility buff. Still the amount you evade will not compensate for the damage you can and will take from mobs.
Another factor is that specials don’t miss. If you are going to hit by skills like Triple Sonic Slash you are going to wish you had the best Pdef there is. This is my view on Light Armor on Glads. I have lots of Glad friends who use DC light as it seems to be a great armor.
Personally I rather rely on the steady Pdef of my MJ heavy then on the chance of evading with any light armor.
If you want to you could increase your DEX if you really wanna solo in light armour, but pesonally i would say get heavy for solo or just hunt in parties and go for maximum damage output.

Valid points posted. thanks alot.
As i see it PvP it dosent relly make any big diffrent. because it is almost every time a Mage blasting me to pieces :D
And in groups i am not really supposed to be the tank.
So the thing is really solo...
But i fell i have to give it a shot. worst case senerio is that i have to sell and buy another armor.
And perhaps lose some SP bying the Lightarmor skill.
If i fail i will be back crying and ask why you dident stop me :p

if you can afford PL (you have said you cant) and you get VR most of the time you can solo w/o any fear...

Time to post on my old post. But this time its the same question but diffrent grade, Light or Heavy for Bgrade?
First there is Zubei-Light: +4 Evasion would be great for my Human that couldent avoid a turtle punch.
Bluewolf-Light: really a mage armor but with +3 MEN brings me more MP and M.def. and it have about the same P.def as a FP (FullPlate best Cgrade) armor with its bonus.
Those are the two options i had in mind for a light.
The heavy is not that hard take the one you can afford, Zubei > then> Bluewolf and thats it.
All ideas and experince are welcome. Tat advice is also welcome.
Definalty dont use any B grade light armours as a Glad. The p def and SA's suck dont even think about it anymore. Stop !!!
Im still using PL when in party with a good tank, or when i am the tank im wearing my Zubei heavy. With zubei on you'll want a -3con +3 str tat, aswell as a +4 wit -5int tat (because its cheaper then -4int) 43/30/40 are nice stats when in zubei. And with the same tats when in PL you'll have 47/30/39, i think. Evasion is so crap on a human you really shouldnt ever consider it. Also, dont increase your dex, as the increase to loss ratio sucks.
As a glad the only light armours you will ever consider are PL and NM light. NM is good PvE to an extent, but best used as an anti-mage armour. The PL is an excellent damage dealing suit to carry with you (only ever wear this with a buffer or a good hate using tank) and doesnt cost a whole bunch either.

Fast question about Stats. Do races have any certain bonuse? or do a human have the same Evasion as a light elf if i bring my DEX up to 35 as theirs?
I think they have a natural boost but dont hold me to it. Also they tend to get boost evasion passives and the like. Evasion is so useless, everyone has high ACC these days that missing a hit in PvP is rare. Level 75 fully buffed/songed up glad in light armour can reach a maximum of 125 evasion, this is not including using +evasion light armour and not including increased dex, as i guess you could go higher. And even with all that evasion i barely dodge a single move...At B grade level range, evasion isnt an option for a fighting style for a glad, if you want to make the most of your class, you'll forget about evasion :p
Incase you missed it, there is a C3 Glad guide here (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=372457&page=&view=&sb=5&o =&fpart=1&vc=1) most of the suggestions are great and still relevent for C4. Although he really only talks on A grade set up's.

Hehe! i have tried most aspects of my character. I chose a gladiotor because they have so many options to outfit there character.
And i am fully aware that a human is like a sitting duck what ever he is doing :)
But a usally trie all kinds of cominations of armor and sets before next grade. Keeps me from getting bored. And makes one to understand what his character is all about.
Yeh glads rock for diversity. My favourite set up tho is P def Heavy Armour and crit/atk speed dual swords. I love attack speed personally because i love to PvP. Ive found that increasing my atk speed by 16% saves me valuable time when charging up all those focus force levels, allowing me to wail on my oppenant before he runs further away.
If you like to play with your glad, have you tried for PvE, using a blunt & shield combo? It makes us quite an impressive tank, better then dorfs anyway.
Oh and never go for a two handed blunt, for some reason it is either bugged/nerfed to hell on gladiators, and i cant find out why. On the PTS i tried using the dragon hunter axe, i have the passives for sword/blunt and a max level hammer crush, when i hit a mob i do massive damage, like 300-400 a swing, great, then i use hammer crush and hit for 30 damage. Whats the deal there o.O??? bugged i reckon. (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=519197&page=1&view=collap sed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1#519197)
