hello, i am currently raising a Overlord, he is now at lvl 12....however, in the long run, i will need tostick with a armor type. robes give the most MP and magic boosts, yet lack any defense, light armor is a balance of the two, and heavy armor is more defense less magic.....question is....
Which set of armor should i master in the long run and why? i want to be able to rock in PvP, literally, so a choice like this is important.

Two words: Soul Guard
With this toggle, your pdef can jump by 300 points or more. You can have 700+ pdef in robes, with Soul Guard. This means, that if you're expecting to take hits and you need all the mp you can get, you can still survive a beating in robes.
So, robes first, then down the line, get a heavy set. OL's have versatility, it's best if you can make use of it. I'm still trying to save up for heavy myself.

IMHO.....:)
Heavy Armor up until lvl 40. Melee and drain back life. After 40 Demon Robes. That is when you will start to see "some" of your power and you can use soul guard.
OL will not show their true power until about lvl 58. You will not do well in pvp pre-58. You will also find that soloing after 52 gets a bit harder. Tough class to level and play but the rewards are outstanding at high level.

In seiges it all depends. If people will depend on you for basic buffs and Heart of Paagrio then robes might be a geat choice but if you have other OLs doing Heart of Paagrio or people aren't going to deped on it and you want to get in the nitty gritty then go Heavy and run into swarms of enemies and start laying down AoE Root and AoE Silence. Its amazing how much this will help your allies, especially your melee force.

Until lv 52 heavy set for solo or tanking stuff and robes for normal pve.
Olīs destiny is to have both types of armor heavy (or light with bonus) and robes. And a lot of ols go a lot solo until 50-60 if they canīt AOE.
Robes-> High mana, high mana regen, low def. Soul guard is "the skill" yep, but until 44 you dont get it. And soul guard canīt be used for solo cause the mp consumition. Robes are for pve in partys or pvp (except archers).
Light-> Middle mana and middle-higher mana regen (bonus stuff), middle defense. At higher lvs light have almost same mana regen speed as robes. A lot of olīs hate it, cause is a hybrid and most of the ols want pure defense.
I was in light since 30 until 60. I like the versatibility and is more cheap than robes or heavy of equal grade. But it isnīt a heavy defense and not a robe cast speed, but pretty close of both.
Heavy->Low mana, low mana regen, high defense. Usual stuff until 50. Lack of mana for buffs so you can made only a few aoes attacks and most of the type you only fisic attack. With soul guard you can have same defense as a tank.
I recomend you to get heavy set and a blunt or duals if you can afford it and stick with it until you be a ol.
bye.
and whats then the best armor after lvl 20?
still robe or heavy?

I solo alot with my OL, it's currently lvl 42. I use brig and the Top D grade Fist weapon from 20-40. At 40 I'm using the Top C duals with focus and Full Plate (I have the demon robes but you the damage I take with them hurts in solo. B grade may also see me in Focus Duals or an AOBA and maybe Doom with the robes in parties. I buff myslef and put out any debuffs/sleeps/drains that I need without a problem - it's taken less than a month to get to lvl 40 this way; more like 3 weeks while also working with my lvl 51 warsmith.
