Where are the short video takes stored ?

The in-game movies are stored in the Replay folder in your Lineage II directory.

Another question .. How is this file then played back ? The format is simply stated as l2r ?

No you need to use www.fraps.com (http://www.fraps.com) or something simulary for that, thoght if you going to record with fraps I recommend rater to record stright from the game, as you don't have the bugs like no summon showing up, plus the most important of all, you can SEE NAMES, and CLAN TAGS, kind of pointless when you can't see that othervise. PvP will eg just be an massive mess.
so they added a ingame movie recorder but not a way to show it to the world in a easy way ?? :/ thats lame

that is because it isn't actually recording the video, merely all the client data of monster positions and hits and so forth.
this is easily seen if you ever watch a recording done by a summoner. our summons don't show up, nor do any buffs or heals used on them.
on the plus side, the rcording files are MUCH, MUCH smaller than an actual video of the same length would be.
