Weapon choice

I get to choose between 2 handed, mace or 1h sword. What should i pick? I learned the hard way to stay away from daggers, i don't want to make another mistake like that.

A 2 hander before 40 is good if you want to save shots and do damage. Getting a shield is a bit useless before you develop those shield masteries.

After 40 as an SK a 1 hander and shield is stock standard, but you can choose a damage dealer setup with a top 2 handed sword of each grade.

Don't get blunts as you will not be able to use bleed.

With the 2 handed beeing slower, does it deal more damage? I mean 1 handed has shield's protection, is the 2 handed the same damage without the protection?

A Palus Knight with a 2-handed deals more damage per second than a Palus Knight with a sword and shield :) ...The idea is that with a 2-handed, you make up for the slight loss in defense for more damage.

if you have an EE buddy then its definitely worth it to use sword and shield. Two handed can put out more damage but its truly not that much when considering the loss in attack speed. Shields are great, they are underrated and with EE shield buffs you are God-like with a shield.
