View Full Version : Players just appearing

Has anyone else noticed high level players just suddenly appearing on the server? Everyones first answer is they botted, but I'm curious how many high level players are there that people know didn't bot to get to the top, but at the same time were never really seen around town or in the arena?

This thread isn't directed at anyone, just something fun for a chat.

I've also heard some of them originally only spoke Chinese and then learned to speak English perfectly.

It's called level-buying. I'm sure alot of people did it to "prepare" for C4. It's where they leech a farmer bot train to level up while not playing. Usually in secluded areas, such as in deep Giant's cave.

I used to hunt there with friends and clannies in an old clan....I've seen a few "big" names down there before. But it's not an appropriate time to say it, it's been a long time.

And, alot of people have come back from breaks to check out C4. Maybe even people from c2, whom we may not remember well. It's been a long time.

This has been happening for quite a while.

Like one incident when a Lv75 Gladiator comes into the arena pulls out a sin eater and asks what it does

Also a number of 'knowns' who have always been away somewhere... like farming barifs for SOP back in C2 for example (Prizes for those who can name the 2 SRs...answers in PM plz) who are now less interested in SOP, can speak English and like to hang around the arena.

But it seems NC didnt do anything about these chars before, and won't do anything about them now.

Seems odd, but I guess it's as likely as botting. Thanks for the info.

I've already added my 'omg they are illegit' post, so I guess I should point out some other observations that maybe will explain the appearance of certain chars...

One thing I have noticed on more than one occasion is that if you log in during a time you normally wouldnt, for example if I log in at 5am my time you'll see a load of players running around whom you've never seen before. This is especially applicable for those of us in Europe with jobs, many of us goto bed before a portion of the server population comes online. Maybe the players you are seeing appearing are those that have simply changed playing times due to changed RL circumstance.

Yeah, I thought not but its worth a try :)

While there are a few hours I might log on that would be odd, unfortunatly for me I'm always around. My job gives me more free time than anyone should ever have and I don't hesitate to log in and grind.

You could get powerleveled 1-52 in two days before c4 came out, it isnt like it would take a long time if you had the adena/money

polarity

I'm talking about players higher than that though. In their 70s I belive. I know a couple of them to be botters for a fact, but I also know 1 or 2 that are legit. Just curious if there were actually legit players who do stay out of towns and the arena and just grind.

You could still powerlvl an alt in C4, but your time is WAY off. 1-52 took hours, not days. In days like say, a week, you could get a friend 1-65 I bet. Yes, these would then be the characters asking where things are in A grade :)

Everyone here states it is cake to get lvl 1-52 in one week. From my personally experience your figures are a little off. I'm coming up on being in this game 2 weeks now and I'm currently lvl 42. Although, I may not be the fastest lvler out there I have played a ton. I have seriously taken my play time beyond the casual player experience. Although, recently I have slowed down a bit. The 2nd class transfer quests stole some steam from me. So that is my experience from an SE. I think the only possible way I could of made 52 in one week is to be in a pole powerlvling group 10 hours a day every day. Anyway that is my opinion you can take it with a grain of salt. =p

I think I'm fairly high level and I just grind mostly. I only go to town to stock up and aside from that you'll never see me in town for any length of time. If they had warehouse managers near xp areas then you'd never see me in town at all. I do my buy and sell through level 1 dwarves and I have a warsmith that comes out to buy/sell only when I need to craft shots until I have about 100K then transfer to the main toons via race track.

With the proper support classes it's quite easy to powerlevel up to b grade or even a grade.

The problem is, it gets boring.

As for Pling folks , Level gain rates , etc

Most who know me know that I'm not really a hard core player time wise, i'm kinda a casul player due to RL interuptions and my rapid boredom rate . As a result Xante is just LVL 46 even though i've had him since open beta . but that is throwing in 3 hurricanes , the birth of my youngest son , relocating , a complete computer loss etc . I do have folks i know that have played since the same time that are more hard core than i am , and the have Stables of Toons that are all in A grade even sub classes in a grade. and I have seen some of those old names on the friends list poping back up now and then.

However It does seem a little circumspect that a player in either c3 or c4 would not be able to find a warehouse , Since the new maps show them plainly, or something similar like the sin eater incident .

LOl would that not be funny though someone buying a toon with a sineater, and that Toon be on all the major clans KOS list , that would be to Funny.

If it were not for the paypal e bay sytem we could all just "buy" the toons for sale , delete them and reverse the charges to our cards , that would thin them out fast but i dont think this is possible with the current system in play maybe NCsoft could get that fixed with Ebay since a part of a toons stats is stored on our own 'puters then that may constitue sale of propritory software code or something who knows .

Anyone else got any ideas , I think that as a server we have done good about pressuring sales of adena and such off the server with most clas forbiddig e bay and sticking to their guns about it . maybe we can do the same about bought toons

LOL I think the opposite. Most stick to their guns when it's in somebody else's clan, but when it's in their own they make excuses. From Storm to Core, Legend to Epoch, Divine to Legion, the new guys (Oblivion is it?) to the old (let's pick...TORTURE); every clan makes exceptions to the rules for their own gain. No, I don't approve of any of it.

I am not at all surprised to see tons of high lvls popping up. All those people who maxed out their toons in C3 and switched to alts are probably jumping back on their main to get the new lvls and skills for C4.
