Well I've been here about two weeks now and I figured it was about time to speak my mind a little bit. It seems there is a prevalent practice on this server / game to accuse others of botting / ebaying. As a new player here this really is quite a concern to me. As of the last few days especially it seems that in almost every thread I read there is a player bringing up that another player is a botter / ebayer. It is of even greater concern to me when these accusations show up in a congratulatory thread.

So my thoughts are this. In lvl terms I am currently in my 40's. What stops another player and / or group of players accusing me of botting / ebaying when I reach the higher lvl circuit? I really wouldn't want myself to be treated as a leper under false accusations or anyone else for that matter.

Further, do players around here really care that much if people want to bot / ebay? I have played many MMORPG's and I can tell you that the botting problem especially is the worst in this game that I have ever seen. However, it is a flaw that the creator of the game could completely eliminate if they wanted to. So since there is this loophole so to speak people are naturally going to take advantage of it. Now I don't in anyway condone botting and that is not what I'm getting at here. What I'm getting at is I'm not going to stay up nights worrying what someone else is doing in a video game.

Now on the other matter of ebaying. I would never buy an ebayed character for personal reasons. I really don't condone buying characters / money. However, for example I had a friend on DAOC that ran several different accounts a couple of years ago. On one account he had a lvl 50 infiltrator which at the time were the FOTM. He wanted to play his Paladin instead that was on a seperate account so he ebayed his Infiltrator and got $700 for that character. Now I didn't look down on my friend at all for making money on a video game character. Further although I wouldn't do it myself I don't really look that harshly on anyone who is stupid enough to spend tons of real money on a video game. Another example someone stated in a another thread that all clans are ebaying and that he is going to have to start ebaying in order to get a clan hall. Since I was curious I looked up what it would cost to get 1 Billion adena to get a clan hall. Do you know that would cost you over $2,000 U.S. Dollars? I mean if a person really wants to spend 2 grand on a clan hall my perspective is go for it buddy. Better you than me. Also, in life money can really get you almost anything you want other than happiness. So anywhere you go he who spends the most gets the most typically speaking.

Now the more intelligent part of me would just delete this post before I press that little continue button since this is probably the hottest topic in this game. But, I'm not going to because I really don't think my message is that abrasive. To sum it all up my key points are as follows.

1. I don't condone botting / ebaying
2. I think there definately have to be some false accusations pertaining to botters / ebayers that have tarnished some good players reputations.
3. I think some players may take it a little too seriously in that they would go out of their way to either falsly accuse someone and / or worry about the whole situation in excess.

So that is my opinion and experience thus far. If I am completely incorrect please feel free to let me know. However, please realize that this is just my opinion and it is not like I just hit your mother. =p
