Ok, I'm a Human Mystic, pre-class change, and trying to decide what the best gear is I can get prior to graded equipment.
Right now I'm rocking the devout set, relic of saints, and a round shield.
What is the ideal gear pre-20 for a mystic. Also, is there any mage swords during this time?

There are no mage swords pre-20.
You have about the best gear you could possibly have pre-20. Enjoy it :D

Maybe you or others could enlightment on this, but your a mage not a sword swinger. Why do you want a sword?

well the absolute best would be the Devotion set and the Voodoo Doll (I just love this weapon, of course the equivalent book and staff would be fine)
coral earrings, blue diamond necklace, and blue diamond rings.

Swords look cool :p They are 1-handed also(the books too).I REALLY wanna ask why the books stop(what happend with the book:Tears of a Fallen Angel-A grade) at low grades.Maybe because they are all the same at looks?

Thats the only reason? Because swords have a low M Atk rating, i would think staffs and books would be the best.

Yes the "best" is devotion set and one of the top weapons like mage staff or voodoo doll. My suggestion is too late for you since you already have the gear, but on my newb mystic I leveled from 1 to 20 on leather tunic, stockings, and an apprentice book very easily. You don't need top gear to hit 20, unless you don't have any gear ready for 20+

[/ QUOTE ] The "mage swords" they're talking about have good MAtk and reduced PAtk, they're just sword-type instead of blunt-type. Most mage weapons are blunts, but they come in swords, daggers, and "etc" as well.

Aye, Mage swords just look really neat, and this game is nothing if not visually pleasing, the character models are excellent.
