Are there still issues with AMD Dual Cores in C4? I heard that in C4 the programmers made the changes to take advantage of dual cores. Is this true?

Actually there were few fixes for Dual Core in C3. I have not heard of any more fixes in C4.
Even though I'm using Dual Core CPU (Athlon64 X2) and both cores are loaded by the game.
I had only one issue with dual core, but it happenes only once before last dual core update. From that time I have not got any more X2-related issues.

So it works fine now?
Good im about to upgrade my system :)

You won't see any noticeable increase or difference in performance by switching to a dual core for a long time. Current games are not made to make full use of the technology. I suppose its an investment in the future but it will be a few years until they make games supported solely by dual core.

Quake 4 does take advantage of Dual Core. Not 100% but a lot (FX-57 had around 104 FPS and FX-60 around 148)

This is good to hear. I am purchasing an AMD X2 comp (can't justify the huge cost for a FX-60) and I wanted to be sure I would not regret it. Would suck to be able to do multi media at lightning speeds but not be able to play the one thing that feeds my gaming addiction.

ok lets kill this myth right now. l2 will NOT run faster with 2 cores. i KNOW i have an fx-60. it only uses one cpu.

L2 somewhat takes advantage of the dual cores, but I would agree that it won't run all that much faster. I'm personally just glad that most of the dual core issues have been fixed for C4. Although the only one I still see that remains is the reuse timer sticking, which was suppsedly fixed in C3.
I bought a dual core mostly for the prospect that I could run many iterations of l2 and still have processing power for other apps. In conjuction with my 2gb of dual channel memory the possibilities are pretty much endless.

First of all... NCSoft does not officially support two (or more) instances of Lineage2 on one computer. They do, but only partially. So most minor poblems are not answered, you are just sent to fan sites instead :/
Also I can't say that dual core solved all problems with background performance. Sound in background window is still sliced and running music for background window is not convenient.
Also well-known Gameguard protects us from running many productive applications in conjunction with lineage2. Some work, some don't.
It's impossible to set up background afk shop and work on the same computer (if you are programmer like me).
So be aware - dual core is not the panacea, it's just another step in CPU racing.

Im still getting Negative Delta Timing critical errors with my AMD 64 X2 4200+
I've tried to find fixes for it, but nothing I found seems to work permanently. Changing affinity set to run it on one processor just gives me a blue screen of death and reboots my computer. I've also tried putting -CPUSPEED=2210 after the l2.exe shorcut line, that works for a while but it eventually crashes again.

I too get the BSOD when using the affinity fix that support suggested...
The only thing that worked for me was the -CPUSPEED=2400 on my x2 4800. My game crashes as yours does but not really any more than my single core friends... :)

erm....
If a machine is properly setup.. you should be able to setup an AFK shop, hell even have it running within a window or locked full screen on one monitor while doing just about anything you like on another running anything you like at the peak preformance that one core will provide...
I know, i'm both a programmer, Graphic artist, and i quite often use various CAD programs which require a fair bit of juice when trying to render or test various aspects...
Dual core here, and i can run 3 L2s and Counter Strike source maxed out all at once with zero delay in loading or nearly zero preformance drops...

I installed a new driver for the processor, and I rarely crash now, without using -CPUSPEED=2210
Dunno why I didn't think about installing a processor driver before :o

There's a small thing called GameGuard, it blocks Visual Studio (for example) if you run the latter after you load the game. The problem is not in cores, L2 or anything else, it's in "protection" system. For people working with this popular development tool afk shop is not the option :/

That's odd. What version of Visual Studio are you running?
I'm using 2003 standard and it seems to work fine for me.
I haven't bothered to update to the 2005 versions yet.
