But Dusk started getting points before the crashes. All sunday server was up and you could already see they were doing fests... Yet, while they gained points, we still had our little 100 festival points. In my humble oppinion, dawn lost because it didn't try to not loose.
Seems people tried to change results at some point, but maybe it was to late by the time people reacted, or maybe not enought people reacted or... I don't know... I just don't think we can blame it on server crashes.

Heheh, you found me out.. yes, I was there =( **** d/c'd 2 times in a row. I personally love festivals.. they are a nice change from regular exping and it's a nice littel adrenaline rush when you get inside. Not to mention it''s just plain fun kiling a billion mobs with 8 of your buddies behind you.
I'd highly recommend anyone that hasn't tried it, to give it a shot. Bring your friends as well. You may not get the top score, but you will have fun. I also enjoy watching other's do the festivals.
We had several ppl show up from some of the smaller clans and offered to help out, or even some non clanned as well. Although, I was surprised that there was less of a showing this time than last festival eventhough more ppl signed up dusk. Most of the time though, we didn't have room in our parties due to the fact we try to form them before going down to avoid waiting around looking for 1 or 2 more for an hour before we can get started. Although we still did end up doing that a couple of times =(
Anways, great fight by the dawnies again. It wouldn't be any fun if there was no one to compete against. But big kudos to my clannies that stayed up extra long and helped out however they could, even if they weren' in the competition itself.
Too bad we couldn't return the debuff favor from last week =P

Well you can get to the trader of Mammon and the necros but the catacombs and blacksmith didn't get unsealed so you won't be seeing him this week. But you almost got strife open which would have been exciting for the castle owners.

All politics aside...
I don't see why more people don't go and do festivals every week. Sure some classes aren't well suited for the festivals (cough) Paladin (cough), but what's stopping you from making an alt for one of the lower level ones? I'm ****ed sick of the people I hear whining about Dusk winning while they were content to sit on their butts and let others go try the festivals for them. The hours I spent doing the festivals the last few days on various alts were some of the most nerve racking, adrenaline pumping hours I've had in this game for a long time.
All the, "well I did festivals two weeks ago," or "well nukers are better for them" people IMO are just being lazy. Sure a nuker party may do better, but if there ISN'T a nuker party around to do the festivals, perhaps it's time you got off your butt and did some. Get some points! Have some FUN! Take some time away from the GRIND!

kari did festivals pretty much all day with clanies/allies.
she was doing 53- with her alt and was leading it with her pty for a while (just like 2 weeks ago).
unlike most dawn ppl she tried at least.
my alts are no nuker or healer, so i tried no limit with my archer, but half the pty was dcing and, yea, it sucked.
as i said, time to lvl alts with top OE'ed gear just for festivals, so the festivals get what theyr supposed to be, a competition.

Yes because either the people who wanted to have an alt on the winning side were just too blindingly stupid or because some dawnies wanted to screw it up.
Either reason, it's just bloody silly since both of those effectively cut their own chances to get anything done this period down to nil.
As if idiotic acts like that made people not play dusk next time, especially after seeing how much fun the SSQ can be when actually used as intended. :)

well unless divine gets a castle this cycle i will be fighting for dusk.
The event is supposed to be castle holding allys vs. non castle holding allys. That is the reason castle holders do not have to pay, by the way. Yes they are also given lord of the manor certs which are ideally to be giving to clans/toons not in the ally which help them win or keep their castles or their alts. The current castle holders choose to sell these, making money and keeping people fighting for them (still paying to help them).
While trying to get parties for the Festival i noticed several things.
1) Dawn not very organized.
2) Not a lot of "castle holders" participate
3) They can be great XP if people are allow to participate
4) Dawn will put off trying until the very end

Dunno why divine didnt go for seal of strife. lower taxes to 5% and make it easier for them to take a castle.
Andothe

Just an ignorant response here, but my first impression of strife is that it weakens the walls. If there is an effect on the NPC's, I could see it, but for walls that are akin to a lvl 50 mob, not really impressive.

3) Seal of Strife
- If owned by Dawn
At the time of siege warfare, it becomes possible to hire the elite and Dawn mercenaries, in addition to the existing mercenaries.
The cost required for the upgrade of the castle gates and walls is slightly reduced.
The defensive power of the castle gates and walls is slightly increased.
The maximum tax rate that the lord of each castle can establish is increased to 25%.
- If owned by Dusk
At the time of siege warfare, it becomes impossible to hire the existing mercenaries and possible to hire only low-level mercenaries.
The cost required for the upgrade of the castle gates and walls is greatly increased.
The defensive power of the castle gates and walls is greatly reduced.
The maximum tax rate that the lord of each castle can establish is decreased to 5%
You will note the decrease to 5% tax rate does absolutely nothing since few castle owners go higher ever, and if then, mainly by accident.
Andothe
02-22-2006, 02:13 PM
Thx luke, so as I guessed, it really doesnt help us much. Hitting an owning alliance in the pockets really doesnt make a whole lot of sense, when gnosis is much more important to all of our pockets.
[ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]
Except that if you look at the taxc rate in Giran right now, it's 6%. And while a 1% increase in taxes may not seem like much at first glance to players that only purchase 100 heal pots at a time, to those of us who purchase a large number of items (ie, 10k Spirit Ore, or 500+ B Gems) this increase increases costs a lot. Especially when it comes to shots. And everyone loves to use shots.
And increase of .2 adena per shot usually ends up being an increase of shot costs at low levels (c and d grade) of 1 to 3 adena per shot. and at higher levels will increase shots prices up to about 15adena per shot.
Luke, perhaps you should mention something to FlashFlood...

As stated *except by accident* Monxide has been out of game the past two weeks really. I have as of yet to get an explanation, but via phone he stated he never touched the tax rate, just letting it roll from the previous owners.
ATM I am still pressing for a 0-1% tax rate at Giran. Giran soul/spirit ore, D,C,B gemstones dictate serverwide pricing. The little adena from taxes (an amount insignificant to the manor system production) is quickly erradicated by serverwide price drops, especially on all our mage spiritshots.
Once again, I am not a leader by choice. But this is my honest evaluation of exactly what has been discussed recently on TS. But thankyou for making this public, I have been pushing with LA for a fix on this in the past week, and hopefully this increases pressure to either do so or take my suggestion to fruition.
That or I did suggest we contact all other castle allies and max taxes at all locations like every other server does. I know most people don't like that idea but like I said, Im being honest :p

See my post before this one.
Explains why quite nicely.
When I checked about 3 or so hours before the competition period ran out, the seals were avarice 35% and strife 35%. When the competition was over it was at what it is now.
