Good luck. Watch your back. And find yourself a good clan.

Tips:

Start doing quests.
Visit the newbie guide and the sweet little catlady often

When you hit say 12 or so and done the qeusts available to you, move to the Dark Elf lands and start doing the fungi, zombie, sweet venom quest there.

Dont get addicted to soulshots, keep your eyes out for red players and never ever give any of your gear to another player.

Oh yes, welcome

Tips:

My advice is, DON'T do quests to just get adena (you'll see that later on in the game that it comes much faster than in the lower levels).

Just get as much xp as fast as you can, but remember to have fun and make friends. :)

I have to really disagree here with Melarna.

Xp is easy to come by.
Adana is very very hard to get and you need lots and lots of it to buy the gear you need to make Xp.

So concentrate on getting adana first, xp will come to you when you gather the money.

i killed just about 728282 mobs and all i see are Adena drops... Do they ever drop items? Also, I look in the weapon store and see stuff costing 1,000,000 + adena, is all the best gear or the 2nd or 3rd best gear merchant bought? Or are there drops from dungeons at early levels like 20's or so?

Can someone elaborate the drop system and maybe the levels you will start seein more drops.

Also, I notice the SP system is infinite, like you can grind mobs until you have your skills maxed, is there a point where you cant gain enough SP to get every skill maxed?

Clerik... :)

*says in motherly voice* Did you read all the intense reviews of the game before jumping in?

Items do drop.. they rarely drop... you will get more material drops than actual full drops.

The largest drop I ever got was when I was in my 50's. It was a Samurai Longsword.

I think I might have gotten a C grade Shield drop at 60.

That was it... I am now 71 and I haven't gotten a full drop since.
As far as items... after low C grade (and you can find low c Grade in the Luxury shop in Giran - which can only be bought with crystals) the only items you can get are Craft only from players.

Items can get extremely expensive. IN some cases it's just the players over charging... but you really can find items that are millions upon millions which make sense given how rare the materials are.

My current weapon (and the only reason I have it is I got lucky on the inf ore quest and got the blades from that... and huge help from the clan) costs around 120 million.

The current helmet I need to complete my A grade robe set was going for 55 million... I now see it for 100 million.

Money is an issue in the game. Luckily... you can do things to get money. Money quests (which you do over and over) make a dwarf (which is what I have) use the manor system which people swear by but I have never had great luck with it) fishing might be an option... if worse comes to worse you can sell the fishing shots you get from the quest) and learning the market... finding items that people just need to get rid of and thus sell for far less than normal - and then buying and reselling it.

This game has a huge grind.. grind for xp.. grind for money.

Also... you always get skill points. Eventually... after your 3rd class change, you will use those skillpoints (which is my understanding) to enchant certain skills.

You could feasibly get all your skills maxed "at some point". I currently have over 5 million skill points and I'm only 33% toward 72. However... the skills I will get at 72 might cost quite a bit so it isn't as much as one might think.

If I were you, just get the skills you think might be interesting or that you might use.

Hopefully that is a help and you won't get discouraged.

Rawr! It'd be fun to open them all. Like Christmas, but not as fun as Papyrus. =P
