View Full Version : How to lvl a fighter?

Howdy @ all...
I'm new to this game, and playing with a friend. We both are lvl 26 and playing most of the time together. He plays an elf mage.
Now I see, he has no prob's in killing highlvl mobs. Just take some spiritshots and cast 3 spells, so the mob is down. Really easy.
But I, as a fighter, has to hit the same enemy with ss more than 10 times. I am doing this 2-3 times, than i am down with my hp. Okay, my equip could be better. But i've bought a realy good equip 4-5 lvl before. So i haven't got the money to buy every 5 lvl a new dmg eqiup.
Am i doing something wrong, or is it the curse of the fighter. That he has to lvl longer on low mobs, than a mage.
Just my opinion.. thx.

well.. SK aint that bad, but u will prolly be looking for groups alot..
go BD and u usual get group pretty fast..
none of them are any "good" at either PvP or solo PvE.. they can do pretty decent tho..
well, thats my opinion... other ppl would say the oposite..
melee rarely get me down (killed) and im a bishop... SK with all 3 cubics out could do it easy tho if they land

First off, play what you want to play. SK are fine and do very well. They might not get as many groups as a BD (Blade Dancer) but they are still usful.
Quite frankly, I say duo with your mage friend. One of the best duos for me is melee to tank and hold the mob and me then giving a shot or two. perfect. I save mana and we go very quickly.
If you want to be a pvp god then neither is going to be useful. But they can still do pretty well in PvP. There are just other classes that are better.
And of course, Melee against a nuker, nuker will usually win.

Something that hasn't been said yet is that it's true you will want to grind on lower level mobs than a caster. Doesn't mean you suck just the way it is. I usually grind on greens/light blues, maybe an occasional white thrown in too.
The trick is to find a good balance so you don't need to rest. The nice thing with a fighter is that while we need to grind on lower level mobs, we also don't need to stop. I can grind for hours and hours without ever needing to rest and usually without a health pot either and still make good XP progress.

BD is best in duo with nuker (SK or BD) and get groups easier.. wich i prolly already said ^^

That's true Obsidian, so many new players try to find mobs that give higher and higher xp but fail to notice that they have to rest more. Steady rhythm... that's what it is all about.
Yeah.. BD is great to duo with. :D

BD + SE + nuker(s) = Uber PvP Group (and PvE)

It maybe offtopic, but it fits to some answers before.
Perhaps i have to tell somthing about me. I was changing from World of Warcraft to L2, because WoW doesn't have a true openPvP concept. It just didn't exist. Everyone is grinding in instances, so you have to search for competition. And if you find an enemy, then it's lvling and questing. That's just to boring.
So i changed in hope to get more openPvP ( 1:1, x:1, 1:x... ). I just want a good SoloPvP-Class. And i jope to find it in an sk! This cubes sounds realy great for me.
To get back to the topic answers, so if i understand it right. The mage will lvl faster than a fighter? So, if we play seperated, i have to accept that he will be higher than me. Good to know, so i will fight against lower Mobs, were i haven't got to rest, even when it's more... you know what i want to say. ;)
Thx for all answers.

I hate to say this but PvP balance is the opposite of WoW in terms of classes. I too play both (and EVE) games. Whereas in WoW the rogue and the Warrior dominate (when well equipped) in L2 the ranged/caster classes are the kings. While some may argue that a fighter type can do well in groups, no one will ever say a fighter/tank does well in solo PvP (at least not that I have seen).
Also, the SK is in the tank category but has the lowest HP and the highest damage. If you want more damage output you may want to look into doing your class change to the Archer/Dagger route if you haven't passed that point yet.
As far as PVE goes, I wouldn't worry on the speed. I feel I level at a very good rate and as I said, I find it quite fun that I can go forever without resting.

Obsidian is correct. Though melee can do well in pvp, if you are looking for a solo ronin fighter then you might just want to go Archer or Nuker. Though I would think that if you are going pk'er then maybe Archer as they are faster.

congratz. you just discover the fundamental flaw in L2. if you really wanna fare well in terms of pvp/pve/aquiring wealth, then roll a mage. i believed that SH has the best balance for the 3 categories that i mentioned since they nuke hard (more xp and less shots used == faster lvl + more cash saved) and have good mp management skill (less downtime == more mobs killed)

First... i don't want to argue about WoW Classes, but in PvP the Warrior is nothing more than a joke. Everyone can kill a warrior.
I was playing a good eqiuped warlock, and ****... this ist truely the best class in the whole game.
The warlock hasn't got any problem class. Just take your Sukkubus, and every rouge will be dead in seconds.
But i realy go offtopic... in WoW there isn't any sheme like: Figher are better than mages in PvP, or otherwise.
So i hope it is here, too. But just for information, i changed to an darkelf mage, and now i am lvl 15! I just like it, and the changing wasn't a mistake...

Glad you're enjoying the change! That's what matters.
I had no intention to argue on WoW classes; I just go by what I see and read on the forums and I did say well equipped Warriors. My main is a Warlock on WoW, too but I don't PvP with him as I don't find BGs fun at all and he's on a PVE server. I only brought that up because it seems most people on WoW view the Rogue/Warrior as PvP kings when they're equipped in uber items. I found it interesting because in this game meleers are pretty much stepped on (which despite if you're warlock can kill them or not, melee classes are not fodder in WoW).
But that's getting off the beaten path. I haven't done any PvP in this game beyond getting two-shotted by some meanie archer, that is , but it's much more group oriented at the higher levels (clan wars, castle sieges, etc), from what I've seen.
I'll get to that point in another 4 months when I get to lvl 40 ;)
