movie contest [Archive] - Lineage II Forums

I just started recording a few things in game for this contest, and I watched a few of them, but how are we suppose to take the replay recordings and combine them together to try and make a short film? The file type it saves as is .l2r and nothing can read it but the game itself. I tried opening or importing it in my Adobe Premiere and a few other programs, but it just dont work. Someone please give me a clue so I can start my movie for the contest please, thanks.

l2r file is a vector format for lineage 2, that mean it doesn't save any graphical information, but only the instruction the game has received when you made your movie. Each time you read it, lineage2 redraw the scene taking in consideration your own videos parameters (shadow, resolution, texture detail...)
That mean that you can't read this format with any third party soft like corel or wmp.
If you want to do something with your replay, you have to encode it with a third party program like "fraps" to get an AVI or WMV file, and then work on it.

So I mailed my movie in.

Did anyone else enter this contest?

I couldn't figure out how to get it uploaded to a site and didn't want to waste any more time, so I mailed it in.

For me voicing was hard to do. Trying to make it semi cool, but it's all cheesy anyways.

At first trying to tell a 3min story or less about this game seemed easy, until I started working on it. I didn't have much to go on since I'm not in a huge clan and don't seige, so I had to make it work with how I see and play this game.

I hope they post them after the contest, so we can see everyones cool prospectives.

My little cinematic was done from my Orc's prespective with only game footage. Edited down with game music/sounds. I hope it at leasts gets mentioned, hehe (Orc FTW!)

You people should post them now if you already submitted them. Or at least post them when the contest is over. Not sure how NCsoft will handle them. Like when they will post them, if they will only post the winners. I just want to see some peoples movies.

Very cool santa. I think your vid is much better and cleaner looking than mine and I had it 2 seconds longer, hehe.

I must have used the wrong compression though, because my file was way too big to set up to upload/download. I'm going to try and set mine up on my website with flash some how so you all can have a good laugh at my corny flick.

I'll post the link when I get it running. I just wish I had more interactions with a clan or sieging or I could of used some clips like that some how.

niec job on yours santa, curious as to how you got some of those shots. did you use game cam or something cause last time i checked you just can't get some of the angles you got in your vid. also you camera work is rediculously smooth, how did you achieve that?

It should be under the section where it says "movie score".

their is an FTP link highlighted "download these files" right under the section for submission guidlines.

I'll post mine after the contest is over. Tsgumi's is far more flawless than mine, I'm curious about the camera work too, I have a hard time getting it very smooth.

The music is under the music score section.

I used fraps to capture everything and sony vegas to edit. All the camera work is a mixture of crops, pans, camera rotations, and mouse movement.

I should have used replays personally but there were a few sections that I didn't want the watermark and clipping it would have narrowed the screen too much. Oh well :) I'd like to see who wins soon, omg ++June 2nd.

still rediculously smooth. i used fraps as well, i can't get it that smooth. anyways, thanks i got the music files, but i won't be able to make it in time for the contest do to some unfortunate circumstances. i will, however, push onward with my story. i will hopefully, be able to do some voice over work, providing i can learn how with my headset that i have. i willpost my movie on here when it is done.

I still haven't received confirmation yet (it's been about 2 to 3 weeks now), so I'm probably not being considered for the contest. LOL

either it got lost in the mail or they thought it sucked.

You guys that got confirmation did they email you here on the forum, send you a letter or call you?

I think I screwed my chances by sending it via mail, but oh well.

I got my video on my website in flash, so I'll put it up after they announce the winners.

There are things I would have done differently, and I'm going to add an intro and credits on the version that goes on my site, but this is what I submitted. Was going for a c4 sightseeing thing with a bit of LE/DE humor :)

It plays using macromedia flash, maybe try getting version 8.

Yeah, I forgot to mention it's flash 8, so if you dont have it you will need to update your version of macromedia to be able to read version 8. You wont be able to download the movie, just view it from my site.

Ellie, for some reason I can't view your movie, but it might be because I'm at work. I'll have to check it out when I get home. I'm also working on my next short film using my Dark Elf.

To help out with smoothing over films you want to fraps in 60 fps. Slowing down the replays helped a lot with the overall smoothness of the film I submitted but frapsing at 60 fps will help for things like pvp with clan tags. You can also use the velocity envelope tool to smooth things out OR just cut out the rough parts completely.

That's one nice thing about replays, slowly them down to film it and then speeding back up makes it look sooo sharp.

The voices on my video were done by me. I used Adobe Audition 1.5 to change the pitch among other tweaks. I hate the sound of my own voice.

The scrolling was done fast because of the lack of time I had. If I let it run like I wanted to, that would have been my entire movie, hehe. I just tried my best to tell a decent story. I'll continue the Orc story someday. right now I'm working on my DE Assassin short story.

Ellie I did get to see your video the other day. I though it was cool. I thought to myself the Hero toon must die. Evil rules!

You can pause it to read the text, but thats not too important, hehe. Also if you minmize the screen a little, the video gets a little sharper looking.

The first one was good, though the content was kinda uncreative, it was presented in a dramatic and creative way, which makes it a winner in my book.

The second place one really puzzled me and makes me question the whole purpose for winning? If Lineage 2 advertisement was the aim of the contest that should have been written. The second place one looks very quickly slapped together standard PvP thing with the most "creative" moment being an orc bladedancer sub.

The comedy one was creative and funny at times. It did deserve its place.

I can't quite make out why if there was 4 movies you enjoyed that you didn't honorable mention all 4 of them, thats kinda not acknowledging the effort of the people making a creative contribution. They do get mention, but its all the way down here in a thread as a response to someone else :(
