HEllo Sieghardt! Ive been gone for some time (almost a year) because Ive been in the process of moving and all that "fun" stuff, but I'd like to start up again on Sieghardt because IT was my first server in Prelude, and from the posts here on the forum, you all seem extremely kind and good people to be around, so I thought I'd give my old server a try.
Any reccomendations of where to stay away from (bot swarming area, or pkers, etc)? And also, any help from anyone would be great. Im seriously thinking about making a DE sword user(Cant remeber the names, its been too long!) but my friends tell me that their armor is expensive, and told me to buy adena, which there is NO possible way Id do. I love this game too much ,and Ive really missed playing it.
So any help would be appriciated so so much, and I hope to see you in game, or PM me here on the forums to arrange a meet up if you'd like!
(Ill post later with my characters name, cant log on right now for some reason  )
Thanks!

The environment has changed drastically in a year. Where you once had more then 1 red running around Abandoned Camp, now PK'ers running around ganking lowbies is very rare.
Around Dion you could have some problems, but it's really rare.
DE sword users (Bladedancer or Shillien Knight) are good fighters and highly wanted in groups. the BD is the most expensive char as you really need BW Heavy and SLS*TSU or SLS*SLS +4-+5 in B grade. Now that's alot of money for a starting character.
I'd recommend lvling a scavenger along side of your main to help you keep up with your finances.
Bots are everywhere, just depends of the time if you see them or not.

Thanks for the information about the scavenger, sounds like a good idea. Im sorry if im asking too much, but how does someone go about making money on one?
Thanks again, and any other bits of information would be appriciated! Oh and who is usually better to find groups with, a Shilien Knight or Blade dancer?
: :D TY!

BD i think.
To make adena on a scavenger is not so hard, you just spoil alot of animal bones and other basic mats and then sell it in giran.
Duno the exact price on AB and the other stuff but you can make alot of nice adena on that market. You dont need to have the cool gear to have a low lvl spoiler realy, well i you want to solo in one of the low lvl catas then maby it would be good to have some decent gear.

A Bladedancer will much easier picked up in a group/clan then an SK. There is no doubt about that and I wonder if that will ever change really.
Making money is best done through the market system or spoils, buy low, sell high. I still think people who are manoring are in the minority, so I leave that option aside.
Quests, regular drops are so bad for your adena-pool that you should not rely on them to gather a decent pool of money for later on.
Too bad, but it's the way the game works.

Alright thanks again! How about clans. From what I remeber, you had to be pretty high for them to even look at you, has that changed? Because it would seem that leveling and gathering adena would be a bit easier in a group of people, like a clan.

You will want to solo to 40 (at least). Otherwise you will have no money for gear.
Use the manor system. If you don't know what seeds are, do a search on "manor" and figure it out. It's basically a way for any class to get materials from mobs. Plant Seed. Harvest Fruit. Sell back fruit to get material components. Sell materials at inflated prices.

Nowadays most clans start to get interested in you from lvl 40 or 52 onwards. Why is that? Because =
1) Leveling to 40 ain't difficult now with the Newbie helpers, the Mammon exchange and upgrade weapon feature, raid party's, catacombs...
2)40 > 52 becomes to show like a grind to level up, and you like to have regular groups with the same people to do it as you can trust them more then your regular pick-up group in Giran that can often lead to disasters.
3) at 52+ gear is so expensive you will like to have some back-up from your clan to see what you can do for them and what they can do for you.
4) At 52+ you need pvp back-up too.
That's why clans are only interested from 40-52+.
Gathering adena is a bit easier in group but don't forget you will have to fight dark red mobs to get it as adena is looted between all the party members. 8k on the floor is suddenly only 1k in your pocket ;)

You will also find some people who are willing to sometimes help you out with advice, quests, sometimes money etc... Just need to ask & see who responds! :p

Actually, there are a fair amount of lower clans running around sieg. I got about 5 invites on my nuker and my healer when they were in dg until I tagged them to my alt clan.
I joined one on my monk though.
These low clans often tend to be more casual players, logging on to have fun and mess around while leveling rather then straight grind.
Currently there are a couple "raid" clans which start about 20 and will raid until 52.
If you get a good clan even at a low level they'll back you up in PvP, and often will help each other with gear. The one I was in had 3 people that had just joined L2 and were all helping each other out with money. They mostly raided, and if you get lucky (or are in a clan designed for raiding) you get the raid drops - which can be anywhere from worthless to a couple million. Get a clan, it'll be split among those who need it.
None of them e-bayed and they were all nicely equipped when I joined.

So the hire clans are not legit or less laid back ;) ?
Need to brush up on some of the hire ones I guess ^^
Believe me, there are enough people (and by deduction) clans that will be willing to help you, for as long as you show your own willingness to grow in the game :)
We all started at lvl 1 and we all (specially the oldtimers like me) know how hard it can be (although new chars can get far in less time then I had with newby buffs I didn't have back then) to reach the higher levels. We know it's essencial to find and keep groups once we are up in the high 40's and how good it can be to become a clan member as that ensures regular groups (for a slong as the clan is united in that spirit).
I'd say, team u as much as you can. Try out options offered and never join before having talked, played and tried out the clan who's offering ;)
Just the advice of a routined LII player and clanleader

I never said they were not laid back Just in my experience they are more PvP/Grind oriented. I noticed at lower levels, people didn't care so much what your class was or what your level was, as long as they thought you were a nice person, though similar level was a plus. Higher clans tended to be more interested in you meeting level requirements and if you're a helpful class (given it's established). By "higher" I of course mean ones that do not recruit until 60+.
Nor did I say they were not legit. Not quite sure where you got that unless by me saying they were nicely equipped and didn't ebay. I'm just saying that it's possible to be nicely equipped w/o ebaying... And it's made easier if you have a clan that knows where you're coming from (there are some that won't help you with gear. But PLEASE do NOT join a clan purely to help you out, also think about helping out your clan when you can and to make friends.)

The only thing I ment with my rather long previous post, was that you shouldn't generalise ALL high leveled clans under the same umbrella of PvP/grinding just because it's your experience.
As for the legit part, notice that that sentence was a question. Not the implication (as you seem to take it) that you said this.
For the rest of your last statements we seem to be in general agreement.
