Hi all,
Sorry for the noob question, but I'm wondering whether it's sensible for a SK to go for a 2 handed sword over say a sword and shield? I don't see a lot of DE running around with 2 handers which made me wonder whether there was a reason for it...
This will be mainly a PvE character.
SK have the ability to do well with Both. Most SK are used for tanking though so they go with shield, its ideal for parties. 2 handed is probably the damage dealing version.

Understood (and thanks).
Probably make more sense for me to go BD if I want that sort of character I guess.
Although perhaps a SK with a two hander would be better for soloing than a BD?
Havent the slightest clue. but SK do have surviability.

SK with 2 handed sword for solo: 2 life drains + vampiric cubic + tank skills = sustainable HP
BD for groups: Dances are group buffs, BDs usually take DD role or backup tank. With VR BDs can solo, self buffed you will have downtime.

Great info, tyvm!
SK with two hander sounds the best for me as I solo quite a bit (and I like the idea of something visually a little different).
I guess I'll additionally grab a single + shield when I can afford it for tanking with groups.
Thanks again :)

A KNIGHT without a shield is not a Knight.
Sure, it might work ok (due to high STR). But why play a KNIGHT class, if you're not taking advantage of their main skills (Shield masteries are the core skills of knight classes)?
If you just want to do damage, play a BD. Or better yet, if you like two-handers, pick a Destroyer.

Shields are only important for tanking in groups and for PvP, esp against archers.
An SK in PvE solo just needs to kill faster, as the 3 drains make up for the missing shield.
