View Full Version : eBay Accusation

Was at arena last night. My first time there, and it was fun...for a while anyways..lol.
It was fun until someone showed up that someone else didnt like, i watched them bicker back and forth about something stupid.
One of these people called the other out as a scammer, and named the person who they scammed. The accused said "MIND YOUR BUSINESS". this went on for a while, and then the "Mind your business" person noticed I had composite armor, and for no reason started accusing me of buying adena on eBay.
I just ignored it "oh well let them think what they want" It didn't bother me until after i left the arena. I think they should take their own advise and mind their business...lol.
Actually i got reaaallly lucky, someone (i didn't even know them) was quitting to play WoW, and asked me if i wanted free stuff. I was thinking to myself "ok whats this scam going to be"...turned out wasnt a scam....gave me all he had...Millions of Adena worth of stuff..
I know some people are still going to accuse others (and me) of eBaying....all i have to say is think what you want.
Bottom line of this post: Letting the accuser know (if they read this) i told you my business this time but take their own advice next time.

To be honest composite armor isn't that hard to get. People that accuse others like that should do a little research in to how to obtain stuff.

Well you did "come into possession" of millions of adena.
But anyway its nearly impossible to know whats what these days, some people used illegitimate means to establish themselves then played completely legit afterwards.
I've lost count of the "totally certain 100% legitimate players" on my server I've found out did some form of cheating. In the end I judge on how you act towards the game, the server and other players/people, and thats my end criteria.

People do this and it is **** weird.
My friend had a brig set and dual katanas. Somone comes up to him and says "stupid ebayer brig and katana's LOL..." My friend was lvl 44 or something so whats the big deal? LOL, he REALLY wanted katanas...
I figure if you ebayed at least he would have C grade armor. But whatever...
The funny part was my friend didn't even know you could buy currency since this was his first MMO. LOL! So you could see how it went when he said... "ebay what?!" LOL
Anyway people will just say this BS, but pay no attention really. Just remember in the end you only spent $15/mo instead of $50/mo on a game! :D
Why are the "C" graders being picked on, let's not talk about all the guys that have two set's of A armor, 4 weapons, 5 other toons all decke out in appropriate gear.

C grade, that's good. You can usually tell who ends up with funds from who knows where when they are like level 40, spending way more on weapons than they should, asking exactly what gear they should buy because they have no clue, and so on.
Then again we use to have a girl in clan who was 50+ and still didn't know much about how the game worked so you never know.

You can earn your way in L2 or you can not earn your way in L2. There are people who do the former with 2 subclasses -
* those who have earned a the top gears and levels,
* those who haven't reached top levels and gear but have earned what they do have.
As for people who do the latter you have 2 basic subclasses -
* those who use illegit means to get ahead in L2 without earning their way,
* those who don't earn their way through the game and make it a point to accuse anyone at a better point than them in the game as being a cheater because despite the fact that they don't want to put effort into the game, they resent those who do.
At the end of the day, you have to either be satisfied with your gaming experience or not. You have to look in the mirror and decide if you've achieved or cheated. I agree that the most telling thing is hoiw a person plays the game, not what gear they have.

it's sad when you get to certain higher lvls and they still don't know how to effectivly play their toon. I had a clannie say to me one night who is a tank, I can't take that aggro cause I might die, and I'm an OL getting ganged up on just about dying as he stands there. I haven't grouped with him since and prolly won't.

I saw someone selling the Tutorial Guide in Giran the other day for 1,000,000,000 adena. Yes, that is correct. 1 BILLION adena. You have no idea how tempted I was to sit down on top of that person and put a Tutorial Guide in my shop . I resisted that temptation because I doubt it would have worked and certainly don't want anyone getting the wrong idea about me.

I do something similar my self. When I went from D to C grade and found out you could exchange/upgrade weapons at the BS of Mammon that’s what I do. For example I get fist blades crafted and the luxury shop and then visit the BS to exchange them for Homunkulus, an bam intent adena. And duning the week when the BS is not around I lvl crystal to give the Homu Acumen. I’ve been doing that for a while so when I hit 61 I could buy my full Tallum set.

I know the feeling.
Someone accused me of eBaying because I had full Avadon and a SoV: Acumen waiting for me when I hit 52.
See, I'm an networker. I make friends. Friends give me things. The Avadon was a gift for all the hard work I put into helping someone level, and the SoV was a loaner.
If I'm going to eBay, it's going to be worth it (http://www.ciol.com/content/news/repts/102122802.asp).

Whoa composite armor! Uber! (It's a good set and all - I have it on one of my alts too, but you know.. :p)
Comp armor cost like 2 mil if you buy it from another player, and slightly less if you buy from lux for cheap crystals. - boots and gloves should be fairly cheap, since you don't need them for set, don't know if you have those. the price for helmet is a bit steep for a second highest C grade helmet, and no chance he could have known if you had it. /rolleyes. That was just bizarre.
People accuse each other for various things for odd reasons. Sometimes if someone you don't know particularly well says hello to you and you reply with a simple "hi" they can be very quick to shout "ebayed toon!". Happened to 2 people from my clan, whom I've known from level 1 (One is my boyfriend -and clan leader, whom I've obviously known well before he started playing lol and the other I've known since I played on Devianne, so I know for a fact that they are the original owners).

... for my lunchbox.
Seriously, I'm level 30 and making good progress towards my C Grade gear for two characters, it ain't that hard. :D
PS: They could have known. But someone using third party software to see others' gears should keep very quiet about accusing anyone of doing anything.

I just hate being called a ebayer.
It happens to me because I am a collector, I love buying, collecting and wearing sets of armors I like and I happen to be very succesfull with the market in this game, so I can usually buy what I want.
So the other day I was showing off my various armors (I like to do that hehe) in the Dion WH, my BW Heavy (normal Armor), Rind Leather set, Dwarven Chain Mail, Nightmare Heavy (My futur armor, missing the helm), Avadon Robes (My fav outfit), Formal Wear, Theca Light, Divine Robes.
And this girl say "hehe She must have dried up the Adena on eBay"
Grrr....what a nice way to kill my good mood.
Is it so hard to imagine that some people can acheive things without cheating in this game?
And it's not like it's hard to prove how I make my money, Esmera is selling Hairpins or equipement everyday of the week near the GK in Dion.

Lol I suck at making money. Always have and always will- I am reasonably good in real life, and I am a careful spender (L2 being my exception :P) but in MMOs I suck.
As such, I am poor.
Have I been tempted to eBay? Hell yeah. But I won't for 2 reasons; one is the fact I think cheating in a GAME is absolutely pointless, and the other is... well, like I said, I know what I should and shouldn't burn money on.
I know a case where a guy is accused of eBaying, even by his own ally- his friend, playing since the prelude, left the game. Why? No idea. He was a greek guy, and whether the guy himself was legit or not I neither know nor care. He gave an OEd top C kit to this guy I know. He had asked me to go along just in case this guy was scamming him.
I saw it with my own eyes- he GAVE away this C set. It was the gear of one of his alts, and he gave it away to the guy I know. No questions asked. 'Here, take it and use it well'.
The guy hit C a few months ago, and since he equipped it at level 40, and (standardly) bragged about what he was wearing, he has faced accusations left and right about being an eBayer. I know for a fact he isn't, but who the hell cares? Whether he did or didn't (the latter in this case) the fact remains he will be wearing it til 52, or probably past 52, with pride.
Now, does this mean that every first-time L2 player level 22 with full brig and ELS +6 gets believed by me to not be an eBayer? Of course not.
Whether they are or aren't, I simply think that it has nothing to do with me; eiher they are lucky, something rare in the game certainly, or they cheated in a pointlessly dishonest manner.
Who the hell gives a ****? For me personally, and for lots of people, it would take the fun out of Lineage 2.
If you are accused of eBaying, and are innocent, do what my mate does and politely point out how it has absoluely nothing to do with the accuser, and walk away.

I have a friend who was accused of Ebaying because he was seen in two different sets of C grade gear in one week. What the accuser didn't realise was the first set had been sold to pay for the second!!
On people that do Ebay one of the funniest things I see is character buying. It's a huge giveaway when they have a sub-classed character and have absolutely no idea how to use any of the skills their character has. I cannot understand why anyone does this but their choice I guess, I'd rather have the experience of playing the game.

Why does a player cheat in an FPS? To kill people so he feels good. Same reason a player buys a toon in L2. To win at the price of dignity.

I was called an ebayer on my first char because I had bronze at level 32 or something, and bronze is "top". My friend was called a duper because he had a comp bow at level 38. The conversation went something like this:
"how is that so suspicious? I'm wearing mismatched D-grade armor and I have a *non*grade bow"
"whatever"
"duper"

[/ QUOTE ]
Not "moral" as in good and evil, but certainly lawful fairplay. L2 is very competitive. There are rules in any sporting competition. Come play hockey and I will hook, slash, and crosscheck you all night long. Then tell me "lol, morals in competition." How about we play chess, I reach across the board, and steal all your pieces and just say "I win." Do that in any competition and people will simply stop playing against you. It happens in L2 as well. Some cheaters make Hero and get bored because everyone refuses to have anything to do with the toon. Sure a 78 botted SPS is a great toon, but if nobody will invite it to pvp as a group, it gets very dull killing random people knowing nobody will do anything but kill you.
Cheating ruins games...L2 is a game...fair play exists. The rules you agree to abide by every time you log in. Blame NCsoft all you want for not stopping all the bots, but if I'm playing a sport, and some guy is cheating like crazy....well...I definately won't leave it up to the ref to handle a guy that hacks my goaltender. He'll have somethin coming next time he's in a corner.
imo game is to far allong to tell anything.
the econemy is strange now :/ rich players sell stuff very cheap because they can. ebayers who dont know anything could be mispricing their items by alot and i could profit from it. that might make me come out as a ebayer because im suddenly rich.
on time this farmer dude, way in the start misspriced his mats, i believe bones in his store, and he missed a zero. they wer elike 400 a pop, he was selling for 40, so i bought with all the cash i had his few K bones and sold them a week later for 650
now... people cann tell me all day long they are completely fair, but buying from a bot/farmer is already bad if you wanna fight them. thing is this game is about money, so a "fair" playing will see this and just buy and sell from farmers as long as he didnt ebay. is he still being fair ? did he cheat by working around farmers ?
i was in a bot group once. some dude rezzed me and went off afk botting again, for 3 hours i could pick up loot as it was set for free for all looting. then the guy gets back and yells at me and kicks me out the party. now.. personally i liked the free money, free xp and i didnt bot myself :P but offcourse it was wrong in a sence. but i also screwed their money making for 3 hours. is it still bad :/ good question
but when i started, in beta, i was poor as everyone. i worked hard and long to get me a spiked club. made me a dwarf alt and spoiled everything, did every money quest in game. weeks later i got a tarbar, and brig armor. i wasnt even halfway 30 yet, and most were around 30 in non grade :/ i might have looked like a ebayer, but i didnt do anythhing wrong. i kept playing the market, spoiling stuff, using SS wisely and few months ago some guy was quitting and dropped a full demon set and jewelry to the floor in aden and i was there to pick it up :p
comes down to one thing... people who call other lowbies ebayers are probebly jalous. i never call anyone out for a ebayer outloud, unless they have a lvl 75 toon in full A grade and wonders what a soulshot is... and yes ive seen them
ebay on all servers is merged into everything. mat prices, weapon prices, crystal prices, its all controlled by the bots now. and 90% from the buyshops has something to do with "cheaters" its hard not to be part of it. i only hate the people who laugh atothers because they have crappyer gear.. thats mostly the ebayers

QFT.
Like it or not, the bots & farmers completely control the L2 economy. If you disagree, ask someone who was playing back in the days when the GameGuard updates actually worked and kept them out of the game for a week or two at a go.
Unless you are personally farming every mat yourself, or relying on your own luck with drops for crystals, I can guarantee that a farmer, probably a bot, somewhere, had a hand in creating whatever item it is you're building, or built to sell. Whether you sifted Giran for the best prices on mats, bought Crystals for making items at the Lux Shop... whatever... it's a miracle if some aspect of that item was not produced by a farmer.
Knowing this, I really no longer see (or care) why it matters.

I actually got Comp armour as a drop from the ant queen during a raid using my SO, which I then put in my warehouse for my scavi when he reached Cgrade. Ive been playing Erica for nearly ten months. My SE went into Karmian straight at 40 cos it was originally my SH's before she went into B grade. One thing I had been doing was freighting the armour/weapon to my other character when I wanted to play another char. My Arti makes shots, makes me money, my BH has uber spoil days which also makes a ton of money.
But that first char.....the SH was in D grade for a long time. Different people use different methods to make cash. The ones doing the accusing are usually the ones that use Ebay.
As for my BH/Arti, Im sick to death of being zapped cos people think Im a bot! Not all small people are! lol

There is a difference between playing the market and buying items with the adena you earned in the market and by killing mobs..... and by using visa.
Chances are, with all the RL money you've handled, some of it has passed through dirty hands as well. That doesn't justify rampant robbery and embezzlement.
