Well, I'm certainly disappointed overall!

I have it on good authority (from board-rats on this site's boards) from a number of players that:

"I can get a toon from 1-40 in two days!"

I can't tell you how many nasty comments I saw of that nature when I started out last January.
I can certainly recall a number of people telling me how "it should be a BREEZE now with ALL the advantages WE (from beta) never had--to get to lvl 30 in a day".

Evidently not many of those old posters decided to show their skill on Franz.
To those approaching class change and the poster nearly to 30---MAJOR GRATZ! THAT is impressive.

To the baseless braggarts making specious claims in answering my posts 8 months ago........ppphhhhhbbbbttttt!

By the way, how many people have top-shop D gear already?
I was also told, evidently with a straight face, that "you should have 15-20 million adena by level 30". Curious as to how rich folks are before the 'outside adena sales' begin to show up (which should be any day now).
Anyone logging on yet and having top NG by lvl 4? Or saying things like "wow dude! I got a bastard sword full drop from an elpy last night!"?

As far as 1-40 in two days...meh...I can push you that fast on Lionna where I have a 7x SS and a 7x Proph to buff you every 20 minutes...once you're in D grade I've got +12 this and that here and there...but 1-40 on a clean server in 2 days? I have to call shinanigans on that.

Still switching to Lionna to sell at night or devianne (i'm a bit confused right now).
Thought I'd try out the new server for laughs. Newb weapon for 1st toon is nice.
I only have about 50k at lvl 16 and except for newb spirit shots I haven't spent money porting or for anything else (except a couple soe's).
Money will come harder here (legitimate adena that is).
With some cleaver moves and some seed money it's possible to make hundreds of thousands of adena a night pretty easy on mature servers.
This market is slower obviously at this point (and of course getting that first 'extra' 200-300k takes quite awhile).

Hehe.. guess Im happy money maker - got my manticore lvl 19 :). If you have tokens - go to DE land, do zombie quest till you can (up to 19), then spider quest (up to 25 i belive) and you have money for things you need.
I have lvl 21 human rogue and lvl 19 human mystic.

Orka, It is ALMOST not possible to level straight to 25 (without deleveling) and from hunting and quests to have enough money for a d-grage weapon and armor. NG top gear costs almost 300k for weapon and another 150k or so for armor. The lowest d-weapons are around 700k.
On my first toon on Lionna I got a bastard sword full drop from orc warlord in orc barracks or would have been in NG till 35 or so.
The easiest way to make money is to exploit what others don't know or want to take the time to do.
For instance, if you have 200k, you can open a "buy shop" buying EaD's for 50k. Obviously you can buy 4 of them. Advertise in 'buy window' "Quick Adena for your EaD's".
Someone will come along overnight and sell their EaD to you.
You resell those the next night for 100k. Maybe it takes two overnight afk shops--or three. But while you're sleeping you make an additional 200k. Now you have 400k.
Or, eventually, someone will want to sell a 280k Falchion (or other top NG weapon). Offer them 150k or 170k. If they really want quick adena they may take your offer. Immediately resell that for 240-250k.
The MARKET is how noobs make money. You have to pay attention to prices, changes, the market overall. There isn't much of a market on Franz just yet imo.
Hunting and questing, unless you get really lucky with a good drop (and in 9 months I've had exactly ONE 'good' drop), are gonna leave you short--particularly once set-completion items get sold only by players and it's 3 million for that Brig helm you think you need.

Are you speaking hypothetically? -Not even on the older servers do they sell for 100k. Most I've seen them sell for is 85k.

i broke 400k before hitting lvl 20, ofc doing ALL quests in starter town helps alot
I also found a fulldrop that sold to store for like 40k (didnt sell it to player as it was worse than the event weapon)

however, now at 34 i only got 800k
The only thing ive ever spent money on is some SoE's to port around
Im still in the equip i put on at lvl 12 (thank you, repeatable fungus quest)

So without any fulldrops id propably ave 750k adena made in total, lvling from 1 to 34

People with top storebought weaps are either "transferring money" from their old server, or was extremely lucky, or might ofc have leveled several dark elves to 21 for the about 300k a you make from the quests

Well, i never use DSS, only the Novice ones (about 15k given to you in quests) when i was in NG. I had top NG Armour till 25. I went out and Spoiled about 20 DSS Recipies and 10 or so BSPS Recipies in NoS with 3 friends that give me all the recs if i let them keep the basic spoils, so i get the valuable stuff.

Sold the DSS recs for roughly 25k each, sometimes 30k, sometimes 20k. BSPS went for 100k for the 1st one, then 50k for the rest. Thats about 1m in all, and thats how much my Heavy Mith Set + Elven Jewlery Cost, i have 50k left over, and thats going towards a Tabar, unless i can spoil the mats and craft one later =P.

And of course on top of that is all the Money quests i did, but that was mostly used on SoE's since i use those to tp to diff towns E.G. Gludin > Abandoned Camp for 370a, run north for 2 mins, /loc, your in Gludio area, SoE. And ive been to giran a few times =)

the little chuck is only 29, but thats a good thing because its the best lvl to spoil FULL items on different places. only problem is to run faster than the NPC's in most areas ;)

im really poor, dont have 100k on me, we saving everything like mats on a crafter, spam dss/dbsps like hell, but after server is back the 2nd SO hit 30 and we can recharge more to sell shots... and make "real" cash.
everything i wear is spoiled or crafted or just a drop.
our 1st goal was to make rechargers, now we work out some cash for clanlvl and gear.

and its not a big diffrent if i wear a Dgrade or bronze in that lvls, VR+ lil SO ftw ;)

most of the newbie quests like impossible todo , places to crowded, its a waste of time, rewards like "oh ... better spent time on other things *grmmpf*"

and btw, i wiped out my 1st 9men NPCgroup with a train in PH ... lol, now they instantly stop fighting when i come close.

You forget one thing, the adventure guide gives you top NG weapon for free and 2nd D-grade weapon for free also. So all you need to do is spend money on armor. I have never scammed anyone and never will, but i did have 420K on my lvl 20 human rogue. Travelling around newbie towns, looking for the best quests - thats how you make the money just have to be willing to spend time instead of mad-grind-gotta-lvl-up-fast. I still have like 5K of newbie shots on my lvl 22 char. I guess I just enjoy the moneymaking too much :p

Level 30, creeping up on 31. Had saved 1M, donated 250K to help the clan to lvl3. Still using NG gear and the freebie D weapon. Very little shot use (unless I'm in trouble or get an herb and can get in a mad 2 minute spree against higher mobs), no porting, grinding outside the cats, usually solo, done all quests that net you adena.

Hoping to get my D weapon by next weekend ... earlier if I ever actually get a freaking DROP.

no...a spoiler is all fine and good, but the early days of a server mean that a crafter can make a healthy chunk crafting this or that.

On an established server where bone prices and such are as high as they tend to get because they aren't as easily accessible in high lvl areas as in low level ones then it's not cost effective to make and break things like heavy swords...on a brand new server it is.

Atm I've got 5 mil cash, 2k Crystal D, and enough base mats to craft most of my PL set once I have the key mats, while holding enough material in reserve to continue crafting at a profit...and the Arti has a completed brig set and a tarbar. It's not a fraction of the wealth I accumulated over 2 years on Lionna...it's not even a couple day's solid grind worth...but I feel like it's a good start for the first month on a brand new server without any twink gear (Newbie Weapons obviously helped a ton).

I don't have anything against BH's...on Lionna I have a WS and a BH...that was my original plan here too, but I don't know that I'll get around to it.

The fact that some people have managed to lvl up as high as 50 in couple of weeks (nevermind the illegal players) proves that some folks can play l2 like a full time job. Suspiciously good for them. Other folks that are taking their time and not rushing to lvl realise they have REAL LIFE responsibilities. Committed and responsible aduts know when to draw the limit for addictive games like Lineage 2, thefore it doesn't mess with their relationships, health, work and their *ahem* credit cards.

40 at the end of the first week? That's hardcore...and questionable in terms of legit play...

40 in the first month and a half? A blind monkey giving instructions to a gerble who hopped from key to key in a vain attempt to control the toon could still do that at about 3 hours a day.

And to reply to an earlier comment, a spoiler IMO is a better choice if ur looking to make money, provided you know a trustworthy crafter I.E. clan crafter, or real life friend. This way you get all the benefits of the crafter, but you can still spoil materials you'll need to make things. Also there are so many crafters already established and therefor able to sell shots cheaper than you. So it's very possible you'll be hard pressed to find customers. I know that was my problem early on. Anyway good luck to you :-D

And to reply to an earlier comment, a spoiler IMO is a better choice if ur looking to make money, provided you know a trustworthy crafter I.E. clan crafter, or real life friend. This way you get all the benefits of the crafter, but you can still spoil materials you'll need to make things. Also there are so many crafters already established and therefor able to sell shots cheaper than you. So it's very possible you'll be hard pressed to find customers. I know that was my problem early on. Anyway good luck to you :-D

At this point a BH or a nuker will be your best source of cash sure. For my part I started a WS early on for 3 reasons.

1. I don't like to pay retail for shot...and I don't mind spending time crafting it for my mains if it means I'm saving 20+ adena per BSpS-C. I also like to be able to craft my own armor/refined mats for the same reason. Even if you get a dwarf to craft them at 25a a piece for all your refined materials they add up as you progress past D grade.

2. The easiest way to get C grade gear on a new server is the lux shop. And with young server material prices, you can effectively craft low and mid grade D items (like Heavy Swords and White Tunics) at a healthy profit. The server has been consistently at 610-645a per D crystal. I was crafting for about 450 a crystal to start and about 570 a crystal now.
As the server progresses material prices will increase and eventually these easily obtained key mats will be useless...but for the moment they can be very profitable.

3. Craft shops are becoming more and more common. However, if you spend some time looking at what the other craft shops have to offer you can frequently find an important item that hasn't made it on anyone's list. Metallic Fiber was very profitable for me 2 weeks ago or so because everyone needed it for Karm and Plated Leather, but no one could craft it. This will continue to a large degree. Most WS/Maestros only have materials in their shops. If you're one of the select few to have B and A grade armor, weapons, and jewelry available then you stand to make a fair profit.

I loved playing a BH...and I'll eventually get around to making one for Franz, but since so many of their early spoils are key materials that are mostly only good for selling to a shop I've calculated that the WS makes me more money. In part due to the fact that the WS is on while I'm asleep with craft shops or buy/sell shops, where the BH needs you sitting at the keyboard to make you any money.

On another note I rather like the fact that people need my supernessence to create siege golems and wild hog cannons. And I can blow things up. BH's can't do that....although their summons aren't particularly cost effective which takes away from the reason for my original post.
