How to get more novice soulshots from quest?

The Newbie Guide seems to say theres a way to get more soulshots but doesn't go into detail about such quests.

Are there any?

Depends which race you are, but usually there are two types:

lvl 6 continous quest, kill goblins/orcs/werewolves etc.
You can hand in just 1 quest item and you will get the extra newbie ss/sps
Works only with newbie characters

lvl 9-15, 1 time weapon quest or quests
Human: 2 quests
lvl 9: Sword of Solidarity
lvl 10: Spirit of Mirrors
Light elf: 2 quests
Dark elf: 2 quests
lvl 10: Forgotten Truth
lvl 10: Spirit of Craftsman
Orc: 1 quest I think
Dwarf: 1 quest I think
give 1-2000 normal No grade ss/sps each
works with any character.

It is also worth mentioning that the weapons you can aquire from these quests are worth between 23 and 30k and usually better then your current weapon, so upgrade them and sell your old weapon if it is worth less.
That is if the weapons you get are the type you want to keep using (for example Dark elf quests only give fighter weapons).

I did that quest first time and he gave me some, but I went back later and he didn't - must be one time only.

That is right, the lvl 6 quest only gives you newbie soulshots/spiritshots once, although it is a rather huge amount ^^

Does the quest give indicate that this will happen or is it one of those things that a player just has to be lucky enough to figure out?

Well I attempted it again with 50 SS and then when I had zero SS, and didn't get any at all - so it must be a one time thing.

i figured it out the hard way. beat on the quest giver shot by shot to get the number down.

Orcs have two. THe level 8 kill imp quest and the get the weapon quest.
Or at least they used to do that, havent tried in c5 yet.

Interesting. And I admire that type of fortitude.

Reminds me of the game Zork. An early text based adventure game on the Commodore 64. There is a machine where you have to set certain numbers. Most of the time "nothing happens". But one time I "appeared in a room where I was surrounded by guards who shoot me dead".

So I sat down to essentially set every number combination (I think it was 001 to 999). Never got any where else with it so I figured that I had made a mistake. Still I was steadfast with tickinig off the next number each time).

However, for those poor souls who don't have the time for such things, it's a shame that the quest doesn't give a better indicator that the player can come back when low.

Something like:

"Take these Items and go. If you run low return to me and I will see if you are deserving of more of these. But keep in mind that I want you to use these up as I have others I need to give them to. If you do not use enough of them I will send you away until you do".

Or something like that.
