I'm new here and I was wondering if you vets could do me a favor. I read in a post not to sell materials and such to npcs because a player will buy them. It would be great for those in the know to help out and post a list of items like materials, recipes, items. I'm sure its impossible to know exactly the relative values since some would and can pay more then others. But just some honest price estimates would be great. I think a list like this could be a helpfull guideline for people like myself tho.

well you ask for a list that is 50 pages long :/ or, hmm, more. my advice is to keep it all in your WH, if you wanna sell anything, check the markets in dion/giran for prices.
there is also certain webpages where you can check recent prices.

My rule of thumb, all mats, keep unless I am poor. Spell books and the like, if they are dropping like flies, then sell to NPC, otherwise, try to setup a shop at the town in that area w/ your books at similar prices to the shops around you.

Spell books, especially near hunter's village drop so much, it just isn't worth it to fill up the inventory but there is one or two rare books up there.

Also, most no name d grade mats I usually sell to shop. If it makes one of the "in" pieces then I try to sell to buyers or setup shop overnight when I am not at the keyboard.
