Their are several "hacks" that can allow you to go to sleep.
Usually a person cannot sleep because their minds wont let them.
Do one or all of the following:
1) Read before you want to sleep. DO NOT do this in bed though. Find a comfy chair with minimal lighting. Too much light will stimulate you and keep you awake.
2) Write down the stuff you need to do in the morning or the next day.
This gives you a piece of mind and prevents the "I need to remember to do this" syndrome. This works suprisingly well.
3) Play some white noise in the background, preferably a fan (not necessarily pointed at you). Concentrate on the sound and it'll help clean out the constant buzzing of your mind.
Good luck and good night ;)

I take an herbal sleeping aid that seems to be working wonders. Most prescription drugs only serve to make me groggy and not keep me down.
It's a melatonin complex, should be readily available at any drug store or natural food store.

i too found that keeping a fan on works well, but if it gets to cold you may get nightmares >.<

try doing some excercise before sleep. nothing too strenous but something that will tire you out.

I find I sleep best when occupying my thoughts consciously as well - I can lie awake for hours if I just let them drift, but as it stands I just play out a scene or two in my head, and as the scene progresses I'll generally be out in minutes.
If you have a real sleeping disorder, of course, it'll be worth seeing someone about it instead of going on the net to get advise. :p

I don't think it is that serious. It happens to me sometimes, but then it does I usually manage to sleep only few hours per night, constantly waking up. This results in a 3-4 hour lenght days sleep after scholl
Thanks for all advises, i think i'll try some of then i have a rough night again ^^ Honsetly I hope one will be enough.

Melatonin is great. Its non addictive and puts you out in about 15 minutes. Though, I would suggest taking only half a dose the first time to see how it affects you. Hot chocolate also works wonders!

Melatonin gives me weird dreams. I always wake up in the morning and think now that was an interesting adventure.
Even if you dont fly go get an aircraft manual. Start reading it and all the procedures. If that doesnt put you out fast nothing will.

I don't often remember my dreams, but after taking melatonin, I often find myself waking up in the morning and looking around wondering what the hell just happened.

And you two live on your comps! Havent either of you heard of online classes? Self paced, on-demand classes. I have a couple of friends going back to college this way to work around their work schedule and they love it.
Moon tan ftw!

Turn on the golf channel (if you're in the US). Or some other channel with golf, or daytime dramas. And try to actually pay attention. You'll be asleep in minutes. Just don't be mad at me if you wake up thinking you're Tiger Woods. Or if you cheat on your BF/GF the next day with a 60 year old rich man/woman who wants to kill you for insurance money.
