We used to know that all overenchanting attempts have the chanse of sucsess for about 66% (or 2/3). Sometimes we can even see login screen tip with this information. But not so far ago, some strange rumours appeared, that the enchantment of weapon speciallized as magic, has about twise lower chanse of sucsess if trying to reach more than +3 state. Are they worth believing? Were there any official notes, regarding this subject, or it is really just rumours?
I'm bagging a pardon if this question has already been discussed. Please post here link to the proper topic if it already exists.

You can enchant up to +3 without any risk of blowing it up yeah, for +4 and above its an 33,33% chance to fail every time.

[/ QUOTE ] one handed mage weapons cost more, so he didnt try to enchant as many. thusly, his opinions are skewed.

purely from the physics and scripting aspect it wouldnt make any sense to make it harder to enchant one item over another.

33.33333333 (ad infinitem) % chance to fail is universal. applies to all weaons regardless of type, grade, or whether youre sitting in giran or in rune.

people say its harder to enchant S grade; well if S grade cost 1a it would be a lot less hard, now wouldnt it.

nope. youd still blow EXACTLY the same amount of weapons to get to +20 as you would doing D grade.

the mere fact that it cost BILLIONS of adena to get +4 or more S grade means its just not a common enough enchantment.

go to the library, get a book on "statistics" and leaf through it. the only thing youll ever need to know is that statistically speaking nothing is impossible and by the same token nothing is improbable.

Just rumors.

The fail/success rate per enchant beyond +3 is the same no matter what type of weapon you are enchanting. Take it from someone who has made a +17 Homu and many others from +10 through +15, a few +9 and +10 SOV's, a few +4 through +6 SOM's (and the only reason why I didn't try higher was because you can't really sell them quickly if you enchant a SOM too highly.)

Once upon a time this same rumor was made about everything from top swords (especially the SLS and the Damascus) to mage staff. All myths and lies.
