I read the following:

"Normal bows have a base Weapon Delay of 1500"
"Yumi bows have a base Weapon Delay of 820"

What are Yumi bows in this game, and how do I get one? Thanks.

well i hav no idea at all what yumi bows are, but i do know some bows have higher wepon delays. For example (i think):

light cross bow is very slow

Gastraphetes is just slow...

Thats what i think anyway, i might be worng

I've not heard that term in a long time.

An example of this would be the Soul Bow with half the attack rate of a Bow of Peril. I believe people would rather use a +4 BoP (B grade) than a Soul Bow (A grade) simply because the BoP can deal the same damage but works out cheaper in shots/arrows.

Correct me if I'm wrong..

The attack speed of bows is strange. The 'very slow' bows have a longer reuse time which means that you stand still for longer and arnt as good for kiteing. Also skills are slower to use. But, over a minute an archer using a slow bow and an archer using a very slow bow will have launched the same number of arrows. Comparing a soul bow versus a BOP you will shoot the same number of arrows per minute, but do a lot more damage with the soul bow because of the huge patk hike, but you wont be able to kite as well.

I disagree with the above poster regarding +4 BOP -v- Soul Bow. The huge damage hike would mean you use less shots to kill the same mobs and thus your not going to save anything by using a BOP over a soul bow, and A grade bows use 2 SS per instead of 3 SS and the SS/Arrows weigh less so you can hunt for longer before going back to town. Soul Bow > BOP unless its +8 or higher.

Slower bows ar good for kiting. Hit, run during reuse time, hit again.

Yumi bows were Lineage 1. I had not realized they transfered into Lineage 2. If I am right, I don't think you can get one of those in this version of the game.

Yumi is the name for Bow in Japanese and are generally more powerful than your typical western bow because of the design and size (they're around 2m tall). The soul bow doesn't appear to be over 2m tall, but I guess the comparison was made because of the slower attack speed (Yumi bows take a lot more strength and better positioning to nock).

Bow = Bows with "Slow" attack speed.
Yumi = Bows with "Very slow" attack speed.

If you got 200 atk speed, your base atk speed is 1 attack every 2 sec.

Slow bows = 0,8 sec atk, 1,2 sec recharge
Very slow = 1,2s attack 0,8 sec recharge

in terms of DPS there is zero difference. Thought Slow bows is to prefer as the atk speed is higher, you can kite better and you can use skills more faster as they recharge faster due your atk speed.

Yumi bows were added somewhere around C1. Well, not exactly added, but bows were split out between the two types. For PvE I don't think there's a huge difference, but for PvP where you intend to use your active skills, I'd go with the faster attack speed so you can stun etc more often.

The English longbow was 2 meters in length, unpulled.

Yumi is a japanese long bow that is sort of uneven in shape. Instead of a symmetric ")" shape... it's more like a "7".... The curve is slightly offset to one side instead of the middle.

The cost per shot of BoP vs Soul bow is pretty much the same if not cheaper for BoP because of the reduced cost of BG consumables.

As for damage... with QR on both I dont see how anyone could possibly argue that both would shoot the same amount of arrows per minute. With my QR BoP i have pretty much no time in-between arrows, along with a 30% faster attack speed. It is unfair to compare CS BoP to QR Soul bow just as youd get insanely imbalanced results comparing QR BoP to CS SB.

I have a +7 BoP and I easily chose it over +3 SB... 30% atk speed vs 10-15% patk. Attack speed effects SO much...ability to kite, reuse of pain of saggitarius, ability to keep up snipe, cast speed of specials for PvP...reuse time of specials in PvP...was really a no-brainer.

Very slow bows suck. Slow bows rock.

They shoot the same amount of arrows per minute (w/o QR ofc). Very slow bows have almost no reuse timer, and slower attack speed. That means you stand still much longer and get less time to run, essential traits for any archer.

I've borrowed a couple very slow bows, but I always HATED using them, even in PvE. The time it takes to use skills is also VERY noticable, I always ran around with a Carnage instead of Soul Bow until 76, and in PVP I could get my stun shot off faster than SB users, even when I started after them (and I got lag). OFC they got owned by my slightly weaker but faster bow ^^

</3 very slow bows.

Japanese eh, then yumi means bow.

You were probably thinking about "yami", which means darkness or black or something like that.
