Hello to one and all of Phoenix server! It has been a long, long time for me. The days spent adventuring on old Gustin server I cherish fondly. I remember it as a vibrant place with an active and extremely helpful community, back in the day, (mid 2004-2005). Although my forum name displays my secondary character, my main character is Sateous, a level 69 gladiator. I have him currently sitting across from the great monument in the center of old Giran City where I had logged out for the final time about a year ago.

I am posting here while waiting for updates to download. I'm coming into the game for a while. Can't say how long, but we'll see depending on how many of the old gang I used to grind with are still around. I have kept up here and there with the help of a few close friends, one of which is Krypto. I found myself missing some of the good things about this grand old game. I apologies before going on. This will be a rather long post and intended for anyone out there that still remembers me.

The past year has been hell on me, my family, friends, and fellow gamers I have come to know and love. I was diagnosed with colon cancer about this same time last year. I had surgery to remove 2 index finger sized malignant tumors from my large intestine on October 12th, 2007. Thoughts and prayers have been my stall wort beacon of strength during this time of trial and pain. After a year I can now say I'm 100% back to health, but have had to make some changes in my life. I won't go into that detail here as it is for those that were close to me here on old Gustin.

I want to thank, publicly here those that showed great support for me during those days. I was once a member of AncientWisdom clan and the Solidarity Alliance. Thank you TrixieBell, RenaissancesMan, and SoulMagic for all the effort you did in attempting to contact people in-game and via e-mail about my plight. I was humbled to hear that MatthewIV and members of WolfRiders wore a message over their tag saying, "Pray 4 Sateous". This is an emotional post right now folks, and it isn't easy to choose my words properly, but I will continue.

I respect this old game for what it is. I enjoyed the class quests, the sieges, the arenas, the necros/catacombs, the raids, and even the slow grands to level up. All this was fun, but it was really, for me, all about the community, the people of this server. You all are what made the server shine! After all it was Gustonians that were the first North Americans to take down Antharas! That was a moment I was most proud of this server and it's people! When I was starting out on Talking Island I never went a day without making a new friend. The same for Abraxis around the Light Elf starting area. One of the kindest individuals I remembered grinding with back then was MysticLance. Yeah, there were many random "acts of kindness", to be sure during those days. I hope that spirit hasn't died here even after the merge with Hindermith.

My reason for coming back to the server once more is one of reacquainting myself with the people here. I am curious to see how things are after the merge. I am also working on a type of history of MMO's with L 2 as the foundation of a series of stories told by the "living legends" that are still here. Those folks that go back to open beta in March 2004. Additionally, the hero classes here on the server, I would like to begin a correspondence with them so as to hear their stories as well. Of course there are my friends who remained so loyal to the game. To me, for this to happen, I set aside any of my old feelings politically one way or the other. It's really not about "good guys" or "bad guys". It's about what we all enjoyed most. So, maybe you could call me the Gustin historian.

about 98% of Solidarity alliance merged with TheGenesis clan about 5 months ago or maybe longer. I'm sure u can find alot of ur friends there.

This server merge sure has been interesting, thats for sure.

My main character is Sateous. I have a sorc named Merlin that some may remember. SythDarkStar is my DE healer. Abraxis is my tank. For now, though, as I get my feet back into game and become more visible, I will be on Sateous.

I will have to get used to the UI again and chat commands too. Each MMO is a bit different, but I suppose it's like riding a bike.

Interesting side-note: Back when MysticLance was a wee little level 20 Elven Mystic and was leader of the clan Mirage in the hopes that it would go somewhere, Sateous joined on an alt and helped contribute to the "let's make Mirage a level 1 clan!" fund! :O

I do remember you Teli, somewhere our paths crossed so long ago. I didn't have enemies even during the days of EA vs anti-EA. LOL even g4briel helped my clan on a level 4 mission!

Yep Soul I know who Crawl is, I actually sat and chatted with Lady R in Goddard for a time when Master TrixieB dorfie that he is came to add his story of..well..as he put it "RL soap opera".

Finally got into party last night and Trixe had me as leader so I had to invite boot reinvite a good portion of the evening. sheesh, I was slow on those UI commands...it ain't WoW...hahahahaha!

I did bring in some mobs for the group to annihilate. Sighs..am a simple, humble, beat up ol' gladdie of the 69th level.
Eventually I shall sub-class! :eek: Any suggestions for my first sub? I'm thinking hawkeye of course, but well we'll see. I still have to gain level! :D

what server on AoC? I have that installed on my PC, but. as of yet, really haven't pushed my char up past level 25. I am kinda waiting to see if they can fix some things first?

I left AW prior to the merge. I am in CC. Ignore the pink fists over my head. There are many toons on Phoenix that I will never call an enemy.

Man, there are times like these that an emotional twing hits and words fail me ol' friend. Yes, I should be logging in soon today and see who is on. My friend's list is still rather small. The night before last, I logged in and spent a couple of hours just chatting with several. Reiker and Trixie partied me. LOL, good ol' Trixie told me a RL story, of course, that took all of 2 hours to complete! :)

Finally got a party going with folks, mostly from "TheGenesis" and few from "Camelot". Thanks Carpe Diem people for your patience that evening. It took a bit to get used to the ol' L 2 UI again, but after a couple of hours it was coming back to me again! :)

I accomplished what I left to do. Graduated from broadcasting school and got a job on the radio in Paducah, KY DJ'ing a top 40 hits station and Modern rock station. I love it I'm glad I took time off to accomplish things. Oh and I'm engaged now, he's a lineage noob but I had him make a char, so if you see Joric running around say hi noob :p I'll stick him in Imperivm academy soon.

Ok, back to work.

Now, I think some see what I meant by "community". I am so fortunate that I've the opportunity to have played with so many warm and wonderful folks.

Gustin shines because no matter what side of any fight you're on there is always a type of code that clans/alliances follow. Yeah, even it seems to suck for some of us, but at least, I believe, you sense the "fight the good fight" attitude.

Gustin is about good people.There are several clans that often have real life get togethers or reunions. Many clans are like families. There is closeness on this server and I hope for the best for all the Hindermith folks that have come to join us!

To those of you all that taken the time to post on this thread, I thank each and every one of you. After a couple of days back in game, I have received more than my fair share of hellos and welcome backs. I knew that most everyone on the server were fine individuals and that's what creates a strong community, no matter what the subscription count!
