Looking for suggestions for C-grade gear for solo play as WC. I'm leaning towards Plated Leather for the str bonus in order to kill faster. I'm worried about the p. def though as I'm used to heavy in D-grade.
For weapons, I know daggers are supposed to be good, but I saw I don't get most of those buffs until I'm already in B-grade.
So, should I still use a dagger in C-grade, or is there a better weapon type to consider? I've been using duals/fists in D-grade, and was leaning towards using these in C-grade until I get my Crit power/rate buffs.
I know with the dagger I should use Focus SA. I don't know much about SAs, so if you suggest another weapon, what SA should I get with it? Also, what SAs are good for fists/duals?
Another thing to consider is I'm leveling a wolf and I do use him in combat (has top weapon/armor). I'm worried that if I use a dagger, he might gain aggro and die too often.
Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

I am sure some WC will answer your questions soon.
Until then there is a calculator for statistics with various set ups. Search for l2calc. The main site does not work for me for the past week though, so you should search for alternatives.
In general duals are decent and most fighting WCs I see around use duals. I am not sure if duals give you max dps, but they should be among your selections. Duals get an SA at +4 and the best SAs are the ones which give critical rate (focus). Duals or any 2h sword will save you a lot on ss too in comparison to a dagger which burns through lots of ss.
I have never tried plated leather, but I think you should be fine, as long as you xp in open area and if you are a little careful not to draw too many mobs on you.
C grade should be very fast, so don't worry about it much. Start worrying about B grade. For that reason and since difference is very small, I also suggest a common weapon for C grade. With a good set up and a good xp spot, you could be getting 1 lvl every 1-3 hours with 2-3 vitality.
Edited: I did the calc: plated leather gives you +10%damage per second (dps) and full plate gives you +20% pdef and some hp. Also top 2h (Berserker) with focus SA has the best dps for you, but difference is small with duals (their SA costs more and has a risk).

The problem with C-grade is that you lose your melee n00b buffs and that means that you are stuck without Vampiric Rage from 40-44. It doesn't seem like much but not having VR is a serious pain in the ***. In addition to going without VR you also lack Haste level 1 until level 48.
C grade should be very fast, so don't worry about it much. Start worrying about B grade.
That's essentially what I would say. If you're going to blow adena on stuff then you might as well spend money on items you will use well into B-grade. I went out and got a Divine set which I plan on using until it falls off me(Blue Wolf robes are expensive) and a I got Common Full Plate to grind in. Since I mostly do Kamas/groups there was no real reason to spend anymore than I needed to on a solo grinding set that wasn't going to get that much use.
Plated Leather seems like a good idea when matched with a hunting spot that sports 1x mobs and pots, so if you want to go PL then give it a shot and see how you like it. For weapon? I just got a Dwarven Hammer(2-handed blunt) and saved adena for B-grade.
If you had a boxed buffer of much higher level I would suggest splurging so that you could grind quickly and painlessly. Since it sounds like you're on your own C-grade is going to suck until you get VR/Haste and that's basically that.
B-grade will be used longer and offers sexier options. C-grade is just something you have to grin and bear when you are solo as a WC.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Looked at the cost on C grade weapons and decided common would be the best bet. Sticking with using the PL, and going to try out a common Berserker Blade to see how I like it (figure less SS consumption and DPS will pick up with it once I get my crit buffs).

I used PL set (with +4 str -4 con tattoo) from C grade through to end of B grade (but i changed the helm and gloves to doom instead of keep using fp once i hit b grade). I used crit duals in both grades and you can buy them in npc shop now and +4 them for the crit SA.
C grade: elven sword*els
B grade: tsu*sls
i was soloing till 71. i had a gift, BW robe jacket and pants, also BW boots. in 2 weeks i had the helm and the gloves (with much help from friends for the recipes and key mats) and for what ?? i was soloing with PL set and kesh+fokus (also shield)
for C grade - use duals, i was with common raid*raid in party. when i hit B i make common sls*sls till the making of kesh+fokus
why i use swords - because they give you 0 accuracy (blunt and fists give you 4, but dagger is -4) and for the crit chance
what was the facts - 70 lvl WC self buffs +4str-5con +4dex-5con PL set Kesh+focus doom shield. exp spot - BS 3 crits kill mob :) 172 crit chance with nice atk speed of 540 (i forgot the real currency, but they are similar to these)
well it was hard with that soul cry ... if there is no MP herb drop you have to sit and gain mana :)
afterall WC is PT char, try find a wolf, with top gear (for Mdef and Pdef) he can survive enought to worth it.
(lol sorry for my bad english)

I used Theca, but I had a Imp couger and sat in Branded with Gsaps. I also never used a Dagger on my Warcryer and I think I never ever will. Thats part of my Physical Strenghts one that effective and will stun.
Same thing with Duals won't us them I would care if the crit rate was 300. I find myself being best with max mana and/or max hp.
Always will a Blunt for stuns and a me I have a Blunt Conversion for party reasons and this allos me to wear light armor and maintain high mp without a robe. Now that i'm on 62 with my WC. I am leaning more towards an MJ set and dye change-up over my current set-up.
But what I did was
-> C Theca Blunt 1handed
-> Bluewolf light and Doom light with Blunt 1 Handed Sa conversion also lux shop HP weapon after buffs if needed
-> @61 Bluewolf more often then doom now and my Tanks NM hvy for Forest of the dead roots helps alot right now i'm finding out and still the HP weaopn when needed.
In summary you can use your Conversion setup to just buff with and get out of and switch to Battle mage mode and help with stuns or you can try to be a wannabe dagger who has to be in robes with no flexibility and no control over the mobs. I think Matk is lower on daggers and duals not sure what the land rate is on sleeps ect if it's +or- over the mage blunt. I just like my Blunt for full warcryer usage
This is just my opinion like whoever had suggested it. But if your going to use duals Play a gladi/BD/ or Dark Tank in Vanguard. You wanna use a dagger then play a dagger. But if all you wanna do play your toon just to smack through with some bot party setup then be my guest :D
Cuase for like some 400lbs dude getting picked for a party i'll pick you never. Why you nevr get that ball between your legs :D
Thanks for all who flame this I won't come back for drama. I lack of caring :D
