View Full Version : Why don't you kill the bots ?

I'm new to the game, but it didn't take me more than a few days to get insanely frustrated with all the bots ( and random generated typical goldseller names xxjfhuhf, ggdfus, etc). They are floating all over especially the catacombs and necropolises.
So my question is as follows :
WHY DON'T MORE OF THOSE WHO WISH THIS GAME GOOD KILL THE DARN BOTS ?
I always try to do it when I see a bot, and it is usually god **** simple to tell who is actually playing and boting. With the current situation in the catacombs an easier way would be to that all red are players from killing bots ! :D

Hello Norseman,
as I see, you are pretty new here.
Ok, let me explain little bit.
1. First of all bots don't care about exp looses
2. bots on death will loose nothing, only a little time (in most cases). And will return to village and return in a minute. Even death penalty is not applied on death from PK, only some exp lose.
3. Bots have no fear of death, so they will come back each time you kill
4. You, as PK will risk:
a) drop non augmented items if yours PK is higher than 5
b) get death penalty on each death
c) to be killed by any player without clearing up situation, because of 4a.
5. Karma goes in geometrical progression, so clean up karma each time is not an option.
There is only one solution for current situation. To have special character designed for bot killing - they are called "Perma red". I have one, pk count not so great but more than 50.
But these are used mostly for cleaning spot for self grinding.

Norseman, you represent a very unique customer behaviour here, I guess.
Let met put it this way: say for example that you go into a pizza place, and you see a garbage can and the garbage is spilled all over it, nobody from the employees really seems to care about it, and the pile just gets larger and larger... Now, will you step there and pick up all the trash or will you turn around immediately and go to the next place?
My point is that it is not you or me, as a customer, should take care of this issue. Of course if you're having fun doing this that's different. But I personally would prefer to just go into a cata, not see any bots, probably hook up with some good team, and have fun this way.
My real problem is that every month you and me paying serious money to this company, which is ignorant enough not to hire a decenet software engineer to improve their server and client so that these bot programs can not be used. I say that it's not even the GM's responsibility to handle this situation, the software developer team, or those who are giving them orders, should be made responsible.
Just my 2 adenas.

You would be amazed at how hard some mobs in catas become to bots when you put just a few prophet buffs on them :D
Oh my, I found a use for my hierophant lol.

Very well said. I couldn't have written it better. I agree completly in general, but my problem is that I really love the MMOs, and it is darn hard to find a good one, and based on experiences customer or player community demands is one of the things that really can change the behaviour of the company ( developers, gms, etc) I really hope this can be something for the better, or atleast something that they can learn from in new expansions, new games, etc.

Yesterday i went to Frozen Labyrinth, i was amazed that there was a huge spot that was run by bots(5 of them) and the only mob they were hunting was the Elder Lost Watcher, their configuration wasnt the best cuz i sometimes saw 3 of them hitting on the same mob.
Anyway, i killed one of them because i wanted his spot and by the time i worked my karma off, the little bugger came running back.
Point here is....its useless, all you as a bot killer do, is risking dropping your stuff when your pk-count gets 5+ AND you actually maintain their level so they never "grow" out of reach for the mobs in that area...so instead of making it hard for them, you actually help them.
Just leave em alone until NCSoft decides to act, just report em as bots..its all you can do
