Question regarding gear/damage for OL..

A friend of mine hit 76 recently and got AM*acu+3 and 150 dark element. His previous weapon was Flaming Dragon Skull*acu+3. However when using Steal essence the FDS did 2x more damage than the AM... Tested it over and over, before someone starts to suggest, yes shots were used on AM etc. Both conditions were equal. Any idea why the heck would such an error occur?

my only thought regards the possibility that having an element on the mace is actually hurting the steal essence... as it is not element based.
try to borrow an arcana mace without an element on it, or maybe one with fire element instead...

did the monster you were attacking have element resist?
dark is the most commonly resisted magic in the game.

It wasn't me, it was a clanmate of mine. I thought about the possibility of the element hurting Steal Essence too but that doesn't make sense. Since its non-elemental any element on the weapon should become a non-factor.

No, the monsters didnt have elemental resist, the damage was also tested on me, 0 of absolutely any resistance.

Also, the orc mystic drains arent dark element, so mobs would have no way of resisting it.

This is hard to explain. Steal essence has no attribute and 2X damage is to big to be explained. This happened also when he tested it on you (with no resistances)? Try to test only on players where resistances are known, not on mobs or NPC.

What part of drain has no element was unclear to you. How could someone resist an element that isnt there?

As i said in my second post, it was also tested on me. No clan passives for resistances, maje light set (so no element there), no buffs, absolutely 0 resistance to any kind of element.

i guess i play an orc mtstic, so i could ask to borrow my friends +3 dark arcana mace... although i normally use a chincey desperation staff... difference should be just as apparent unless flaming dragon skull is special(i have a common one, but i'm sure the desperation staff should be fine.

Steal essence is way too gimp.... was good in the old days.

did u check the M attack on the weapons maybe that of the dragonskull is better?

They can resist it with M.Def and skill/target level disparity.

The thing about Steal Essence doing 2x more damage with FDS than AM is false. You can try to explain it as hard as you want, but I have a Dark Mace and have tested the damage of this skill in both PvE and PvP. Non-Attributed means the skill ignores weapon attribute. Ignored Attribute cannot affect damage. The +3 AM will actually do more damage, since the M.Atk rating is higher than a +3 FDS.
