View Full Version : Some advice
I'm writing this (as the title suggests) because I can't put my mind to some things. So I hope you guys(with several years of experience) can enlighten me.
So far, I have a 21 SO,which I thought of making a SE.Given that I have a 59 G.Wolf,at 44 lvl I could lvl up quite fast and efficent. On the other hand, after seeing thru the forums,I've seen some pretty good things about the PS.So thing is, which should I choose?Coz after all in both cases I'll end up as support for a pet.My point being, I wanna enjoy PvE as well as PvP,and not being left out with *sry m8,but we gonna pick a StS over ya coz he pwnz0rs*
*some info* I am relatively well-off (not rich or such) with a dc robe set rdy when she goes A-gr,but I rly don't wanna regret wasting my time lvling her if I dont like how it goes later(I have exp with summon classes from other games like WoW and Aion)...
Also, should I bother getting a OE wep? (like hom+10,11,12 or sov+6,7,8) or with those 2 classes it doesn't rly matter?
Thx in advance and I'm looking forward to your suggestions.

Forget PvP.
You're a supporter, your main job is to heal/support.
No one will ever ask you to turn to Inquisitor stance and start PvPing.
You'll be mainly asked to heal and/or cast buffs and Stigma on mobs.
And if you PvP, won't be certainly with a bunch of people around you.
If you are lucky to have an augment with some kind of nuke on your weap then only with this, but forget almost PvPing with Inquisitor because the skills take a lot time to be casted (I'm 48 and believe me with Homu + acu it still takes a lot of time to cast) plus that you are low on P.Def some you're prolly 2 hit from an Archer or a Gladi.
And WoW (that's what I've only played from the games that you suggested) is the only game that makes Priests able to PvP alone. Anyway, here it isn't WoW forum but L2. As for your future, just imagine your char healing and buffing. And an advice, consider buying armors with high MP because you'll be in grate need of MP later on. And when I say later on, I mean on 40+. If you're aim is to heal and support then Mana points are somehow more important than casting speed.
That's all I've got to give you for now as info. ^^

Go SE if you wanna party and be bored out of you mind buffing and debuffing every once in a while. Even being a getto summoner its still kinda boring. Pvpwise, the SE is meh to say the least. You take too long to buff and really don't bring much more to the battle that a orc buffer brings. SE would be good if you have a great clan, otherwise stear clear. You could transform i guess and nuke stuff with a bird to recharge ya.
Summoners are the ultimate pve toon, you can lvl solo (true solo, no oop buffs or boxed anything) if you want with crap gear to 75 easily. Or you add a "ok" DD to any party you join. Your cubics are awsome as a PS (phantom cubic rapes RBs). The only "good" equipment is at 75 you need a S weapon just to have the element. Doesn't matter the type really, as long as it has 150 element on it (get wind if you have a choice and never dark). PVP, a PS is ok one-on-one and crap in mass combat.
...First off, thanks for the advices so far.
Still, does it suck that badly to play as a SE?I mean,ok,I can stand healing n buffing for a (very) long time, but not for the ENTIRE gameplay...oh and my pc isn't that good to support real mass pvp so I'm not that concerned about scenarios of *me vs 1000 archers/nukers* coz ima dead anyway.

and really don't bring much more to the battle that a orc buffer brings.
Stigma. Recharges. Mana Burn. Major Heal (at 76+). Need more?
However, if you want to solo, rolling a party support class is pointless.

I'd have to say no..it does not in fact suck to play a se. but that's just me... I have a 74 GW and you can go summoner style just fine with it, all you need is greater haste pots. But i have to say xp wise it's faster to go inquisitor...but having the wolf lets you go to other area's you can't inquisitor in if you can't find a group or want to solo or whatever.
Pvp wise...well you're a squishy se, so there's not too much you can expect (other than you will die, accept that now). Mostly your job is to keep up buffs & mp, and toss up heals, and lastly debuff when you can (especially stigma anyone a friendly melee is hitting or will be hitting..heck i stigma any enemy in sight ^^). Don't really have much experience with ps in pvp so i can't comment on it.
I like both se & ps probably because they are very similar. PS is basically healer & buffer for their summon which is nice cuz you never have to worry about not finding a party.
Depending how you level for either class you don't need oe'd weapons or gear. A mysterious sword is just fine for se or ps. But if you plan on inquisitoring you probably want the best weapon you can afford, just like any nuker. If you don't have an oe'd mage weapon i wouldn't worry about getting one...unless you really want to ofc ^^

You'll just have to choose if you want to be a Healer or Damage Dealer. That's your only issue. Once you've made that choice, you'll be satisfied with your decision because it looks like you're prepared for whatever direction you choose.
No. Neither of those classes require an OE'd weapon.

if you ever want to party SE will get more parties by far than PS.
PS is a fun, cool class, but it is one of the least wanted in parties and by clans in general and is gimp in pvp and doesn't have much to offer in pve besides being able to solo well.
SE is very good now, better than EE in many cases. with a wolf SE is fine solo or even adding DD of wolf to party is great, and SE has far more use in pve and pvp than PS. And mass pvp no one will expect you to do much on SE, but you will still be wanted.

maybe i read this wrong or am mistaken but ps and se arent the same path (or are they didnt check!) if u mean from the one toon - shillenoricles only choice is to be se :-S
and a +6 homunkulus or more will take u to agrade depends how bling u like to be

Ok,so my SE is now lvl 40 and I'm intending to use my G.Wolf to lvl at least to 44 (for Inquisitor). So whats best to use as weapon? For Inquisitor I guess Hom+acu, but wouldn't a melee weapon+stigma and buffed wolf be faster exp?(especially in catas)
Thanks in advance :)

Don't inquisitor in c grade, not till you get invo at 56. You will run out of mp way to fast even with herbs. Your great wolf will do so much damage yours will be negliable, you'd be better off taking a seat and keeping your mp up. All you need to do is stigma mobs & heal & buff the gw...and gw are hard for se's to heal because they do have a good amount of hp and through c grade you will just have regular heal. No greater heal till b grade. So just get yourself a homu or mysterious sword with accu... or ghoul staff w/ btb. But if you want melee weapons too you always have those shadow weapons and can get melee with that see if it makes a big different to your xp speed.

Huh?
Having Invocation is not that important in the places where herbs drop. Invocation is just like +30% to your natural MP regen in the same 15 minutes.

It's been my experience with herb drops (aside from specific nuker only area's like dino) that mp herbs rarely drop when you need them. So you have to sit & med...not the end of the world admittedly but still takes time out of xp. Invo will give you about half your mp back in 30 sec which is a substantial boost and often enough to last you till you get some mp herbs to drop. Now maybe i just have horrible herb luck (i probably do) but relying only on herbs leaves me with way too much downtime.

I have one. So I know alot about them. I'm waiting for your response. Can't answer question with a question. That's counter productive.

if you pvp with it, who can you kill?
personally I like the class a lot but why is it still the rarest summoner? Probably many reasons... as it can do many things but all those things other classes can do better (old SE syndrome), it's ok in pve/non-factor pvp clans but it fails at end game to do much besides be a nice melee dd that dies easy with one pet or a fail dd with hate and kinda heal with another. Most people don't know what they can do anyway and won't party them, nor do they have any great buffs to offer parties that most parties don't already have (unlike warlock). Its pet can't nuke AND stun like EM's can. Its death spike is weak and dark based (the least wanted element).

LoL. You're one of those people. I have alot of fun PvP'ing with my Phantom Summoner. Been killing Sgraders in Varka with it since Lv72. It has the best party cubics in the game. Those cubics are both offensive and defensive. It does have stun (something else you didn't know). And it hardly dies easily when I've killed up to 3 people at once. Another thing, in case you didn't know, there are some end game mobs that are weak to dark element. They're called angels.

I played the class before, I do know what it can do. that stun cubic land rate is not increased by epics. nor do epics transfer stun resist to your summon, a weakness of all summoners. That you think your PS can do anything in pvp is because you are fighting noobs. Yea it's great vs. A graders and ppl who don't know what they are doing. And there are no good angel mobs 80+ until some undefined next major update when MOS gets a revamp. Smart PS have wind on their weapon anyway and only get dark on 2nd weapon.

I guess that makes me a smart PS then. The stun cubic is one of the best stuns in the game. It doesn't need epics to make it stronger. I've stun people wearing epics before. And read it again. I said Lv72 vs Sgraders. Not Agraders. And the angels in MoS are 80+.
