I wonder what the event will be.
Sace,
GMT is not a time zone which is being used at the moment and may confuse people.
The UK, not sure about Portugal, is currently UCT +1 (BST). Are the times you're providing for GMT one hour ahead of UCT?
For example, at the time of this post it is 21:35 BST (or 20:35 GMT/UCT).
Thanks! :)

Im from the Netherlands where we use the +1 GMT for timezone, but the GMT is displayed incorrect again.
The shutdown on teon was announced on 22.30 +1 GMT that it would go down on 23.00 (+1 GMT).. Post states 9pm GMT = 21.00 GMT/ 22.00 +1GMT.

Shouldn't you be GMT+2 since last Sunday? Germany at least is (daylight saving).

Yup.. what he said.
ATM we're on UCT +1... DST sucks. :P
UCT & GMT are always @ 0:00.
BST (British summer time) which is active for the UK March - October is @ +1:00.
CEST (Central European Summer Time) is active for March - October is @ +2:00.

So where's the confusion, besides in using 09:00 PM instead of the shorter and easier 21:00? :) It's 20:57 GMT (or UTC) right now, Teon going down as planned.

You forgot a bunch: Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Saint Helena, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo. I'm not sure about Morocco (and by extension Western Sahara), they had DST in 2008 and 2009 as an experiment, but I couldn't find anything about if they kept doing it this year. If not, they're in GMT currently as well.

No. It's a contest, not an event :>

I stand corrected.

Nope, thought not. :p
Shouldn't you be GMT+2 since last Sunday? Germany at least is (daylight saving).
Timezone is related to the place on earth, not related to daylight saving, so it will always remain the same for that location, whatever the time is.

Semantics, you know what I meant :) I was not talking about time zones, I was talking about time compared to GMT. Effective time in Netherlands is GMT+2 since last weekend due to daylight saving, and that's what confused Singetsua above who still thought Netherlands were at GMT+1.
Timezone is related to the place on earth, not related to daylight saving, so it will always remain the same for that location, whatever the time is.
The point is that daylight time was used for all US regions which made it easy for locals to relate to. They look at the time on the post and then at the time on their clock. Bingo.
However, people in Europe would look at the 'Standard' time given and have to either add on two hours for Europe and 1 hour for UK.
Times should be consistent, especially when a very large base of the users are not in the US.
In my opinion, it would be easier, and no more difficult for Sace/Moxie, if the times were in the following format - at least during the summer months.
1pm PDT / 3pm CDT / 4pm EDT / 9pm BST / 10pm CET / 8pm GMT/UCT
Aria
Bartz
Sayha
At least this way I don't have to sit and work out if the GMT is really GMT or if it's BST (like I have seen in previous summer times on these forums).

Effectively yes, for me and many others it will always remain GMT+1 (stuck to location), but i understand some ppl using the timezone fitting to daylight savings :)

If someone is simply factually wrong (like in thinking Netherlands is GMT+1 at the moment), you can be nice and correct him/her or not so nice and let him/her remain ignorant of the error, but please don't be rude and make him/her think they are actually right.

I didn't criticize you, I was just using your post as a starting point for an appeal to help people, when possible, to get their time zones right instead of perpetuating the confusion.

UTC+1 (BST)
Thank those French...
Timezone is related to the place on earth, not related to daylight saving, so it will always remain the same for that location, whatever the time is.
Timezone by itself is not related to the place on the Earth. The current official timesone at the place is related to both the place and to the daylight savings in effect at the place.

Or, to put it simply: The current official timezone at a place is whatever the government of the place decided it to be. Nothing more. Don't even try to bring physics or logic into it, you'll only get yourself confused. The "GMT+x" or "UTC+x" stuff is just a shorthand notation.

UCT is the generic term I guess, to satisfy the French and British!
Ireland are awkward too - making their own time zone in the summer.

The generic term is Coordinated Universal Time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coordinated_Universal_Time), or "UTC" for short. Yes, really.
As I said, don't even try to bring logic into a time zones discussion. It's all politics.

We are looking into the TW jewel issue right now.
So? Any news?
It's not the only thing acting weird since the last maintenance. The summoned ships from Gracia refuse to depart, no matter how much EP I got in inventory, and if I insist it punishes me and I get a critical error :S

Hi Ossiris,
Can you please submit this report to the Customer Service (http://help.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/ncsoft.cfg/php/enduser/std_alp.php) team? This sounds like something our QA team will need to have a look at.
Thank you,
