Why?
Because just because...
"The Connection to the update server has been terminated"
first try Start > Run (type) ipconfig /flushdns (space after ipconfig)
If that doesn't work rename l2.bin to l2.exe and use it to start the game without the launcher.
if you don't see file extensions go to tools > folder options, open "view" tab, and uncheck "hide extensions of known file types." (xp)
if you rename l2.bin to l2.exe you need to it change back for updates.

Happens all the time, and has been happening for years. Try again later, it will work.

Just make a copy of L2.BIN and rename that to EXE that way when you update the L2.BIN gets updated and you just need to replace the EXE file :P

Tried just to restart ur pc?

I have had it as l2.exe since like a month after they did the silly change and I can still update it without a problem, and if the updater has a problem i have another shortcut on my desktop to that.
