I've pretty much been a tank (Paladin version) most of the time I've played L2; but have dabbled in supports, dagger, archer and nukers.
Personally, if I want PvP and don't have a party available I'll jump on my Spellsinger, and its hella fun, and very quick if you need to PK or need other fast action. My melee DD's I hardly play for PvP because it feels they get nailed at ranged too much to be any fun - but they are only lowbies, comparitively.
Best advice I can give is to not jump automatically for the current OP classes (daggers), but have a long hard look at all the skills available at high levels for each class you might be interested in, and make a decision on that. You'll spend a lot longer at high level than up to 76, so those 76->83 skills determine your fun for the most part.
Nukers are also great if you like being solo a lot. Some of us do, and I enjoy that a bit too sometimes (hence why I have a couple nukers). Melee DD's are awesome fun in small parties or for impressive feats of destruction ingame :p

This is variable depending on what chronicle you play; which is why I suggested to pick what sounds most like something you'll enjoy, rather than picking "flavor of the month" which can easily be nerfed in a future patch. Right now for example, archers generally feel a bit nerfed, whereas a few chronicles ago they were the "be all and end all" of PvP chars. Same may happen to daggers, or whatever is the "best" DD of any current moment.
If you pick based on what char skills are post-76 you'll have a better chance of enjoying your char irrelevant of whether they get nerfed or not. Incidentally, theres nothing wrong with re-rolling in mid 50's or 60's if you find a class no fun, as its not much time invested compared to being 78 before realising you don't want to play it. It helps anyway in PvP as you understand what a class can do, or has the ability to do to you in PvP.

Yep, good advice. Always go for the toon type that you will like the most, and not what is powerful atm. For the most part, you probably won't reach top for the next few years. In that time the class you choose because it could kill everything in site might be the easiest target in the game later on. L2's developers seem to like to balance classes with a 10 ton hammer, in which case usually the OP classes right now are the easiest to kill later on. Daggers had their turn at being on the bottom of the totem pole as well. They are back up near the top again, but nothing can say in the next year they won't be getting wiped by everything.
For strong/weak points.
Daggers - At low levels can be killed fairly easily. Upper levels they still take dirt naps constantly, but can inflict alot of damage, assuming they reach the target before they are dead. At top levels, with Hide ect can sneak up behind an enemy and alot of the time 1 shot them. If you miss with your backstab, you could be in trouble.
Glads - Can't really say as I have never played one myself. They do have painful long range attacks though, and the scariest player I can think of on the server I am on (PVP wise) is a Glad.
Spellhowler - Does massive damage from a distance (right now) from the rumours I am hearing, Spellhowlers are already being nerfed a bit next month with the next update. They are pretty much dead if they are attacked, but can 1-2 shot an enemy from a distance.

Best place to find info, look at the PTS part of the forums. They are currently testing the next update, which from past updates goes live about 1 month after the PTS opens.
And I am not to sure about those SH nerfs. That thread about Spellhowlers I have been reading looks like an unfounded whine story. I beleive I read somewhere that nukers will be able to cast 2 spells at once in the next update. That could be scary.

I wouldn't have a glad in that list, I'd suggest Tyrant instead.

i am thinking lvling a nuker to 75+ then subsclass would be a warrior class...for cp bonus i heard somewhere...but can n't decide which one...with pet and recharge spellsinger will lvl pretty fast i think...on the other hand storm screamer will land easier vortex and slug combo with big damage but has almost no slow skills and cancel...
i searched a bit and still no screenshots only full buffed ones in which sts had 39k m attck 1999 c.speed and mm only 27k m attack and 1999 c speed

But the problem with the subclass is you cannot raise it as much as you can raise the main class. Also you cannot participate in the oly with a sub.

The problem is not the healing. The problem is the tanks kill very slowly. So using the panther can speed the killing considerably. Right now the panther takes away some of the master XP; In the incoming update the AOE summons will not take XP away anymore; but the PVP summons will proceed to take the XP. I am not sure if the panther will take or not XP after the update.

for exemple you use your selfbuff and if you summon your panther, your selfbuff will be shared with your panther
you can box your se if you wish
80 :)

STS is beast, and the best nuker. It has by FAR the most matk and power to output damage; it has the highest INT and a self buff to increase matk. At end game there is no real cast speed differences between races. The only thing it misses that the other nukers have is cancel. Learn to use the debuffs if you want to live longer (<3 Fear and Silence, Slow is much less important: most DD these days are melee which means they are already on your butt and slow won't matter). Cancel is nice to have but that's only going to matter in long fights with one target (open olympiad); in general pvp you probably won't have much time to cancel, esp. with multiple targets.
In siege I would want to be on STS more than any other class for pure raw damage output, it can take down the most targets with the biggest, most consistent, mp efficient, and ranged damage in game.
But leveling STS is lonely and a pain.
Dagger is great for ganking and small pvp but not so hot in mass pvp where there are tons of targets; will go out of mp, and dagger without mp isn't gonna kill much, if anything.
also realize no matter what class you play, if you fight anything higher level or better geared than yourself you will lose almost all of the time.

if you can try to create character in the pts to check the class, sometime moxie will raise your sub and your 6 others character to maximun level in pts :)
