Guardian Strider

I was looking at the striders at the mercenary captain and noticed that he has a Guardian Strider thats supposed to be special. Whats special about it and what are the benefits of raising a strider vs raising a wolf?

Strider you can ride (and quit exping it) quicker. Beyond riding though it's pretty much useless as a pet.

Wolf can help in actual combat, with the right gear and buffs. But it takes longer to become rideable. And can be pretty expensive to get gear for if you plan to use it in combat.
