Latest Video Card Drivers (http://www.lineage2.com/pds/pds_vga.html)
Pretty self explanatory, we always recommend for performance and stability to upgrade to the latest driver set. If there are any known issues on the latest release, we will do our best to let you know.

I have a nvidia FX 5600 with the latest 61.77 drivers,
all is well for a while but sometimes the graphics get all messed up it looks like all the textures have been put in a blender, im trying the recommended 52.16 drivers right now to see if that works but I would like you guys to check out my problem as there may be others who have similar problems with the latest drivers from nvidia

On GF FX Nvidia's 61.77 with L2 right now = No good.
Choppy, sticking, bad rendering, strange color flashes, strange light flashes - just all around bad performance.
For the best results it seems version 56.72 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_56.72.html) is the one to use.

61.77 seems to give me better performance except in certain towns withl ots of detail to draw. Then i get those wierdo color flashes. Other than that it runs much smoother than the previous.

What's this about ATI users saying good things about their drivers and nVidia users saying they're havnig problems? Have the tides turned in the GFX card driver arena?

Personally, the 65.73 drivers (which are 100% official nVidia drivers provided as reference drivers to their card manufacturers) work much, much better.
There are a LOT of nVidia drivers newer than 61.77 (at least 7 newer versions last I checked, although some of those are leaked beta) -- and 61.77 is a terrible set of drivers.
www.guru3d.com (http://www.guru3d.com) has all the drivers.
I have no idea why nVidia themselves don't seem inclined to release these directly.

Hi all, I had a sever problem with the NVIDIA g force 4 card, after a month of corrispondence with the tech crew here, trying all the drivers including the beta's, it still would not cure the problem of freezing, choppy graphics etc....all the same issues discribed in here. I finally got fustrated and went and purchased a new vidieo card, a Radon 9550, and I will say one thing "AWSOME" I was finally able to log in and have been playing without ANY problems whatsoever.
Now...not to knock NVIDIA down here, a friend of mine has a G-Force 3 card and hasn't had any problems other than the odd error message and he just reboots his system and it is back to working proper, and I can see that the bigger cards from NVIDIA seem to be working fine.
I chose the Radon simply because the outlet I was in didn't have any NVIDIA cards availible, I am very pleased with the performance of the Radon card, Hope this little bit of info can assist any other users who might still be having trouble.
Thanks....Knight69

EDIT: I'm going to take it back (for now)... I change some settings in the control panel of the video card and now its running better.. it lags a bit still but thats just my connection...

PLease bve careful when buying graphics boards such as NVidia as some companies tend to combine faulty memory modules with the boards and as a result they neve rfunction correctly. This has happened with chaintech gf4 where the mem module would never catch up with the speed NVidia had set as a standard. Took it back to the shop after several threads posted on the internet.
Also bear in mind that NVidia uses a lot different routines in their drivers to cheat games to run fatser that results in corruption and problems.
Ever since I bought an ATI board I am just PERFECT with most games.
BTW most problems with graphical issues in this games are not factory or driver problems related. This games has several lame code issues that are a problem directed to developers and only developers. Most lag is cache related. Most lag is server related. Falling bug is developer's inability to fix (otherwise they would have).

Well, I have games that their makers say to use older drivers for them to work properly with the game.
I love the MYST series and with Myst 4 Revelation they say to use the 56.73 drivers from Nvidia for best performance. But for other games like Far Cry I need 61.xx drivers and for L2 I need 66.xx drivers for best performance.
Sucks having to keep changing video drivers every time you play a different game for a few hours.

I just installed the new 66.81 drivers {beta} from guru3d.com (http://www.guru3d.com/) and it works great.

Hi I have a gforce fxf 64 mb card. I am looking to upgrade to a 256 mb card. The problem is I don't have an agp slot. I want to know if any one knows of a good pci 256mb ati or nvidia card for under $400.00. I have ran many searches but it seams the only affordable pci cards max out at 128mb. I haVE SEEN ALOT OF $800.00+ PCI cards and they seem to be some kind of movie editing cards.
If you could help me out with some info I would apreciate it.

Your best bet mate is a new M/B. Sorry can't be more helpfull on PCI cards, but AGP is really the only way to go these days if you want to play games. You may actually find it cheaper in the long run to do this. If you already have a fairly good CPU. Phone around some dealers and find the best M/B match for it.

It's amazing that I can play Doom 3 all at max without a glitch and I have to put up with stuttering in L2.
At least I solved the blue screen problems.

Personnally, I suffered some issue using latest WHQL from nVidia... 66.93.
Now, I use the latest WHQL offered by my card manufacturer : ASUS... So it's 66.72, they're WHQL certified and I suffer no issue with them.
For some type of card, I really suggest people use the latest recommended by manufacturer rather than the latest suggested by nVidia.

ok the tech support said i need to update my video card. so i uninstalled the old driver then downloaded a new one. in the process of installing it, it said it cannot find driver, Setup was unable to complete the installation. try to setup your display adaptor with a standard VGA driver before running setup. What on earth does this mean?

Card: PNY nVidia GeForce 6600GT
issue: polygon dropout and cross-welded verticies (like between verts on opposite legs causing "strings")
Drivers tried - results:
* nVidia 67.22 (from Guru3D) - polygon dropout & crosslinked verts
* nVidia 67.02 (beta straight from nVidia Website) - polygon dropout and crosslinked verts
* nVidia 66.93 (both the original driver that came with my card AND DL'd from nVidia Web site) - polygon dropout and crosslinked verts
* nVidia 66.81 (from Guru3D) - polygon dropout & crosslinked verts (this set seems to be generally liked in this thread, but I can't use them)
* Omega Forceware 1.6177 (from Omega site) - This set WORKED the first time I used it, but it could not identify WHAT my graphics card was and caused my system to not recognize my monitor as well...however, I can't find the right "card" (from the list that pops up...somehow it just picked one that worked the first time) to install now that I'm trying to go back to them, thus they are not working currently.
I will update my findings if I can get this to work to help future 6600GT users. If anyone has ALREADY gone through this problem and knows the solution, please let me know.

Processor: Althon 1800+

Now that we have that settled how about the OpenGL with the ATI so that we can make it even greater than it is now ? Please tell me there is a way to tell your Lineage 2 you use your OpenGL config rather that the directx or software rendering it's using at default...

Hmmm some very interesting discussions on Nvidia ... I own a PNY 5950 Ultra 256 and I too am having major video issues or network issues.. i cant seem to determine.. all i know is when playing and going to Giran, it takes a good 5 mins to even move .. when i port there, there is no one there.. but then everyone seems to trickle in until everyone and everyones spot is loaded.. then i am able to move....same thing happens when im in a group.. if in a large group with many mobs, my video freezes for like 4secs to 2mins until im back in action ... almost like there is a cacheing issue.. not sure.... all i know is I am running the latest forcewave drivers from guru3d.com ... anyone else having this problem on a ATI card? ... tks..

Not sure what's happening but I keep getting the BSOD randomly while playing. Sometimes it will happen a few seconds after I log in, sometimes not for 20 or 30 mins, but ever since C3 came out I haven't been able to play for more than an hour without getting the BSOD and having to restart. I've gone through every official and modified driver version I could get my hands on since December and the problem persists. Usually the BSOD identifies my nv4_disp.dll file or other driver files, but it seems like the game just doesn't care what drivers I'm using as none of them seem to work.
I'm currently using DHZP 71.89, but have used their 76.44, and OmegaDrivers 66.93 with the same results on each (BSOD)

I'm back with C3 after a longer break and can live with some minor visual bugs that were added, but I'm pretty much annoyed by the fact that anti-aliasing doesn't work anymore.
I first set aa to 2x in-game, simply as a test (my ATI drivers are set to 4x aa though). No aa, so I tried 4x in-game and it was the same. Then I chose "none" and still the same - so aa obviously didn't work anymore.
After that I reset the ATI drivers to default aa and started the game again. I once again tried "none", 2x and 4x in-game, but still no change, still no working anti-aliasing !
Windows ME
Radeon 9700, 128 MB (with latest ATI drivers)
How can I get aa to work again ? It worked without any problems ever since Prelude - what did you guys "fix" with C3 ?!? :(

Remove the ATI Catalyst drivers 5.12.... And install the version that doesn't use the Catalyst Control Center.
It's the one under the Low Speed "Dial Up Section"..... "Display Driver Only"
I had the same issues as you and it took me a month to debug the issue. For me it wouldn't minimize the game but i would get that popup under the game, at one time i got 50 error windows in 15 minutes of playing.
I'm not sure what the issue was but: NET Frame work, Catalyst Control Center, GameGuard something along those lines was causing the errors.

If you DL the full catalyst drivers and do a custom install, you can uncheck the control center box. Just make sure you recheck the driver box. For some reason, unchecking the control center unchecks em both - very weird. I haven't had any problems till my most recent keyboard/mouse issue which may turn out to be a WinXP/Motherboard issue :(.

Hello all, I am having the same issue with the mscorlib error. I HAVE to use the catlyst center because I got a crossfire setup and the only way to enable this is to use the control center. Anyone have any ideas how to get this error away without uninstalling the C Control center?

12-26-2005, 08:38 PM
Catalyst Control center is a requirement for game to work properly... graphic and preformance wise.. it includes nessary auto adjustment of the Catalyst AI to apply specific setting that are built for specific games. If not apply, any number of problems can crop up.
It should always be set to Normal... nothing else enless you have very good knowledge of this section. (NEVER OFF enless your debugging a possible problem)..
NVidia currently has a few problem with lineage2 and there latest budles of beta drivers and i think there LAST official. Please send Nvidia information pertaining to the problem to them, as well as providing NCSoft with a problem ticket with the nessary information.
I've heard several people with the 6xxx and 7xxx series of Nvidia cards having numerous problems with lineage2.
Additionally, the lastest Catalyst is 5.13s released the 21st.. make sure before updating... that you REMOVE all previous version of the drivers/CCC/WDM drivers... followed by a reboot, and loading of the new ones...

Hello all, I am having the same issue with the mscorlib error. I HAVE to use the catlyst center because I got a crossfire setup and the only way to enable this is to use the control center. Anyone have any ideas how to get this error away without uninstalling the C Control center?
[/ QUOTE ]
Well the updated 5.13 CCC drivers did NOT fix that "mscorlib" error... I'm still getting it, so i went back to the version without CCC.

I have also just gotten the mscorlib errors on my two workstations after upgrading to the full Catalyst 5.13 Release. In full-screen mode, you can't even login, the error keeps reappearing. When in windowed mode, you get the two errors initially, but after those you can login. Using the Catalyst removal tool (on the driver download page) and reinstalling the driver only 5.13 package fixes the problem. Both machines run XP SP2 32bit, one is a P4 with a 9800XT, the other is A64 with a X850XT.

Update: I found a driver that Fixes the Grafik bug to 80% for me. Its the 81.84 Forceware Driver. I tested it with a Clanmate and its working for him too.
Only problem is that IF the game Crashes u have to reboot ur PC cause the game will crash right after u restart it again (most of the time). Think we have to wait till some working Drivers come out or maybe C4 will fix it??? ^^

Well I tested the C4 client and still the bugs with the latest ATI drivers still there. Only way to fix is to completely remove the CCC witch is a bad idea or downgrade the drivers to older versions. And yes FrameWork 1.1 and version 2 are install so that is not the problem ( only Lineage 2 bugs like that no other game does )

I'm not sure where to post this question since this problem only happens when I play Lineage 2 C4 PTS. The error does not appear when I load the normal Lineage 2 C3. However it also has a big problem regarding C3. I will try to describe both problems here.
The graphic card on the computer having this problem is a Radeon XT850. It has the latest Catalyst Driver installed - 5.13 (complete with CC) and the latest DivX. After the game loads and before loading the log-in screen I usually get a pop-up screen which says "Failed to delay load lib mscorlib.dll (MS Error : 982)" The game doesn't crash imeediately but continues to load the game. Once it fully loads, the screen spins 360 non stop. If you try to go to the options menu, the game crashes and the usual pop-up error window from lineage which details everything it says went wrong appear (the bug report window)
I tried installing the driver without the CC too but it didn't solve the problem
The problem it has with C3 is whenever I port into Giran and it finishes loading, nothing works. I can't move, I can't type, I can't open inventory, my character would just stand there. You can't close the game via the options tab. It would still open the tab once you click on it but that's the only thing you can do. I usually have to alt+tab and close the game via task manager. After closing the game with task manager, the bug report window with the long list of errors will without fail appear.

Hello , My system keeps on crashing and I am getting the following error:
Error message: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
View products that this article applies to.
Article ID : 293078
Last Review : November 24, 2005
Revision : 3.8
This article was previously published under Q293078
SYMPTOMS
You may receive one of the following Stop error messages:
STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M
CAUSE
This issue may occur if the display driver is caught in an infinite loop while it waits for the video hardware to become idle. This issue typically indicates a problem with the video hardware or that the display driver cannot program the hardware correctly.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current driver for your video adapter, or replace your video card.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
2. On the Settings tab, click Advanced, and then click the Troubleshoot tab.
3. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to None, and then click to clear the Enable Write Combining check box.
4. Click OK, and then click OK.
Note This procedure prevents the display driver from programming the hardware incorrectly, but you may lose some display functionality and performance. Although you can increase the hardware acceleration settings higher than None to regain functionality and performance, these settings increase the chance that the issue will occur again. For maximum stability, leave hardware acceleration off.
MORE INFORMATION
This Stop error message may also occur in video adapter drivers that do not represent a physical device. For example, this Stop error message may occur in the virtual video adapter driver that is used by Symantec PCAnywhere. If PCAnywhere is installed on a computer where this error message occurs, visit the Symantec Web site to determine if there are any available fixes for your version of PCAnywhere.

try to use a previous driver version... or the latest beta drivers...
But i'm really leaning towards that you have a faulty video card.. please emediately try a few different driver sets.. if they produce the same result ... HURRY and return the card and get it replaced as it IS FAULTY....

Have you tried toying around with your monitor's contrast and brightness levers? you can also change your renderer preferences on the in game video options. Change gamma to a higher setting and see if that helps; your problem has nothing to do with drivers.

Hi, got the new Nvdia 7800 and last driver 81.98.
Lineage2 happen to freeze for very long time.. sometime only wayout was a reboot.
I found on official nvida driver release documentation (the pdf file) a section of OPEN ISSUE and a work around (adding 2 dword keys on registry to disable multithread optimization for videodrivers).
I'm playing days since the registry modification and no more strange freeze.
This should go for multicore/hyperthread processors.

this happens with ATI cards.... catalyst version 6.2 and 6.3's...
Game may run fine for hours.. or minutes.... and then suddenly experience a slowly worsening of choppyness and then a complete hault.. waiting several minute can sometimes fix the issue...
The strange thing is.... although everything appears to be in standstill... the mouse pointer still moves without a hitch... smooth as silk.... yet you cannot type.. you cannot click anywhere.. you can't do anything....
yeah i have the same problem .

My ATI 9800 pro was busted trying to switch it between computers, and even tho we seemed to have fixed it, it's not working properly. I won't go into detail cuz quite seriously it seems it is [censored]. But I have had to put my old Nvidia Riva TNT2 64 back on my second system. I bought the ATI so that I could put my GeForce on the second system and use the ATI for the gaming system... but now I'm back to square one.
When try to log onto L2, I'm told that I need to update my drivers. I've tried updating them, but get the message that I have the latest drivers for this card.
I know that L2 did support this card at one time... but it stopped working late C3. If anyone has a solution or workaround, I would be eternally grateful. :D

THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M (100000ea)
The device driver is spinning in an infinite loop, most likely waiting for
hardware to become idle. This usually indicates problem with the hardware
itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.
If the kernel debugger is connected and running when watchdog detects a
timeout condition then DbgBreakPoint() will be called instead of KeBugCheckEx()
and detailed message including bugcheck arguments will be printed to the
debugger. This way we can identify an offending thread, set breakpoints in it,
and hit go to return to the spinning code to debug it further. Because
KeBugCheckEx() is not called the .bugcheck directive will not return bugcheck
information in this case. The arguments are already printed out to the kernel
debugger. You can also retrieve them from a global variable via
"dd watchdog!g_WdBugCheckData l5" (use dq on NT64).
On MP machines it is possible to hit a timeout when the spinning thread is
interrupted by hardware interrupt and ISR or DPC routine is running at the time
of the bugcheck (this is because the timeout's work item can be delivered and
handled on the second CPU and the same time). If this is the case you will have
to look deeper at the offending thread's stack (e.g. using dds) to determine
spinning code which caused the timeout to occur.
Arguments:
Arg1: 85831c10, Pointer to a stuck thread object. Do .thread then kb on it to find
the hung location.
Arg2: 85ec0698, Pointer to a DEFERRED_WATCHDOG object.
Arg3: f7a0fcb4, Pointer to offending driver name.
Arg4: 00000001, Number of times "intercepted" bugcheck 0xEA was hit (see notes).

I have a Geforce FX 5500 series video card and have been able to play Everquest 2 on lower settings, so I know my card is good enough. For some reason with this game, I see tiny little blocks instead of nice graphics that I'm hearing other people are experiencing. Instead of a clear picture of a stone that I'm walking on, I get what looks to be a stone out of focus to where I can see a bunch of tiny little blocks that make up the stone. I have the latest driver and just downloaded the latest Beta driver to give it a shot. This is discouraging to play a game and everything look graphically worse than a game made in the late 90's.
Is there a driver recommended for this game for NVIDIA users? If so, which one, and where do I download it from?
Thanks for the help.

Lineage2 dose not support Nvidia 5/6 base cards. Even if you update to the newest Nvidia driver you will still get this Critical error or have vidoe curruption of some sort in the game. If your lucky you will just get a L2.exe crash with a we are sorry for the inconvence msg lol. my older version was (9147) and had this same msg. get the same error with the updated version. only one reason that could be happening now is they do not support Nvida 5 series cards and from the looks of these posting most the problems are comming from Nvida cards/drivers.
If you ask me i think the game is trying to access something the so called supported cards do not have or cant Do. You be the judge.

GForce 5 & 6 series should be supported without problems (except performance issues).
I have never played with a 5 series, but I played with a 6600GT (AGP from MSI) for a year, with decent performance.
Please post the source of the supposed incompatibility between GF5&6 and Lineage2.

Now i had to send them a log file from hijackthis software. If that comes up clean there next move will be to take the card of the supported list. lol i would. im hoping its not just this card. ive had no problems with MSI stuff. Can anyone suggest good drivers for an Ati Radeon 9600 Pro?
I've tried everything from the latest official Catalyst 7.X all the way down to 6.8. Then I switched to Omega and went all the way down to 3.8.252 from their latest. I started getting problems such as a few crit errors at certain areas I'd port into that I never got before. Would send in the error report but the crit errors became more frequent. Up to one every buff round now and a BSOD about every hour. These problems started when I had to upgrade my drivers to the latest Catalyst version so I can only assume it's a driver issue.
So yeah, anyone with a Radeon 9600 Pro out there that can let me know which drivers they use and how they perform?
Edit: Just to add some more information. I've performed Full Checks. Reinstalled another client on this machine. Also have deleted my system folder twice and redownloaded the files. None of them helped.

non CCC Omega drivers
[/ QUOTE ]
There is no such thing as non CCC Omega drivers. The Omega driver is a aftermarket driver. To solve the issue have you tried the non CCC ATI drivers?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope. I usually just download the standard Catalyst download which comes with WDM Drivers and CCC. End up chosing not to install it or removing it later.
Think I should look for one that only offers display drivers?

I used to have a CLI error all of the time with the CCC drivers. I never really found a permanent fix for it, but by just using the non CCC drivers i never had that issue.

Yeah I would just delete the CCC and the CLI error went away.
CCC or not though I still get these crit errors all the time. Hehe ironic thing is when I want to crit out so I can copy the message I can't. T_T

You know I think I used to have that same exact error...I believe it had to do with GameGuard. GG randomly screwss with application launching names/addresses and if you have a application firewall, it sees the launching process as 'new' instead of as something you already permitted, thus prevents it from running (or waiting for your input) and you get all those lovely errors.
It's been sometime now since I made any changes to my PC that I couldnt' tell you exactly what I changed or (re)installed to get rid of the error. I think I just used the non-ccc drivers for my ati, but ever since they started pushing the CCC it seems like you get it in some way no matter which driver pack you choose.
As for the UEngine error...not sure. I'd be tempted to think it's a file corruption error but it could be just some bad memory. Hard to say. I don't use a 9600, so I can't directly compare the few Uengine errors I've had before. (9550) Could even be something so simple as reseating the RAM or HD cables. Is this a pre-built machine or custom PC?

I just decided enough was enough, now running 2003 with latest Cat drivers and everything seems fine.
Guess we can chalk whatever it was up to some sort of OS or Driver corruption.

I Know Nvidia Fx 5500 cards are not completly suported with this game. This information came directly from Nvidia, after i sent in many critical error msgs. Switched to Ati 0 problems. My issue came up that the game was trying to acess something the card did not support. Thus it would feed out a critical error. these errors happened all the time when i logged in or when using a SOE. Not no more, Ncsoft kept trying to tell me they do supported it lol. It may be on there ok list and yes you can run the game with it but, have a nice day with massive critical errors lol.

Uninstall .net 1.1 if you have it (and all the updates that go with it)..
if don't have any .net frameworks, then go and download .net 3.0 ONLY, install it (which should automatically install .net 2.0 as well backwards capabilities). Then do a clean install of the 7.5 catalysts
By doing so, you'll need to go into the add and remove.
FIRST
Remove the ATI Catalyst Control Center first, DO NOT REBOOT
SECOND
Remove the ATI DRIVERS (when the dialog pops up with a list, select ALL and then remove them) DO NOT REBOOT
THIRD
REMOVE ATI software Uninstaller
after that is complete, reboot the machine
next download and install that latest ati catalyst (7.5 currently)
After the computer has restarted, all fuctionality of the video card/igp should be fully restored and working properly.

bballmj88, according to the info, you laptop doesn't have video acceleration of any kind, it's using the "Default, VGA driver" which essentually means that you currently do not have any manufacturers driver install... find out what video chipset is on it and download the latest, usually available from the manufacturer.

Have you tried installing the latest update to DirectX9.0c?
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...;DisplayLang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1a2393c0-1b2f-428e-bd79-02df977d17b8&DisplayLang=en)
go there.. download and then install it..
when you run it, it'll ask you where to install... usually best to just punch in C:\dx
hit install or extract or whatever the option is (ok?)...
after it's done.. go into C: and then into the dx folder... scroll down to SETUP and run it... follow the onscreen instructions from there....
hopefully a update to the system will resolve the problem.
Also if you go into the ati CCC..... can you post a screenshot of the hardware/software tabs?
Cornac

While you typed that post I already reinstalled Directx 9.0c Redist thinking maybe the one included in SP2 was corrupted but no it wasnt that, I also used the driver provided on a CD-rom with the card which is catalyst 7.7 suite... but the problem remain.
I also ran a full test under 3D mark 06 and it runs smoothly.
so this is what appear in CCC:

AGP users, i would highly suggest using only Catalyst 7.6's or earlier versions....
AGP is going the way of the dino, and ati has having difficulties resolving the agp issues...
BigBodZod
12-16-2007, 08:16 AM
Yes they have, I guess I'm one of the lucky few as my X1650 Pro AGP is running L2 with the latest Catalyst 7.11's just fine ;)
But then again I have two machines that I can use to play L2 with...
However, I wonder just how many AGP users there are out there, they were around for quite a few years so there still could be millions out there that are using AGP intead of upgrading to a PCIe based motherboard.
Even Sapphire has released a couple of X2600 based AGP cards too so it makes you wonder if any of the latest X3850/3870 GPU's will find their way onto an AGP card too.
Judas
12-16-2007, 11:17 PM
If i recall right, EVERY AGP version of ati cards beyond the x8xx series is actually a pci-ex card with a AGP bridge....
so every x1300+/HD2400+/ or higher used a pci-ex to agp bridge setup..
I think majority of peoples issues are related to the non bridged chips....
Currently NO motherboard i'm aware of comes with an AGP port at all for the last year or so....
BigBodZod
12-17-2007, 07:33 AM
Yeah, I didn't think about that PCIe->AGP bridge, perhaps this will make the neccessary timing adjustments to make sure these GPU's work properly on older AGP bus motherboards.
As for anybody making a board with AGP, you do know that AsRock still makes there DUO board using the VIA VT880 chipset ?!?
The 4CoreDual-SATA2 (http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=4CoreDual-SATA2) comes with both a PCIe and AGP slot, gues it's that cross-over board for folks looking to get a newer CPU and still use their old parts, but of course if they are getting a new graphics card then they can use the PCIe slot ;)
Judas
12-17-2007, 05:29 PM
Yes, but i typically stay as far away from asrock..
my current samplings show Gigabyte in the lead with stability and performance.. with asus trailing behind....
Abit and MSI have failed horribly......
All the other off brand types.. or subdevisions of the top brands are failures in my eyes....
BigBodZod
12-18-2007, 07:44 AM
Well I almost agree with you on this one, I prefer Asus first and Gigabyte second ;)
As for the AsRock board, my ex-boss still pays me for upgrading his work and gaming machines every so often and just recently wanted to go the Core 2 Duo route but recycle some of his older parts.
He had an 865G machine with a nice ATi AGP card and DDR400 ram, the only solution I could find was the AsRock motherboard, which to my suprise was actually a decent performer for the cost, not great but not a slouch either.
The nice thing is that he can upgrade now to either a PCIe graphics card, like the newer G92 nVidia models or the x3850/3870 models and to the newer DDR2 memory as well.
I just downloaded the latest nVidia BETA for my SLI rig, but have not had a chance to test them with L2 or anything else yet.
So far my ATi card has been working just fine with the latest Catalyst 7.11 build.
Judas
12-18-2007, 10:06 PM
