I haven't played my SO DE since Nov/04 she is lvl 32, now the question I have is what should I be using at this lvl, I old and my mind isn't what is use to be lol
The reason I quit before was I got pked so much that I lost all my Mith armour and weapon, but I seem to remember using a sword. I now have a set of Devotion on her and a ceder staff so at least I can play her again. Any suggestion would be great thanks

lol
well you could go with a mithril dagger or dual 107's or go with a mage weapon and use disrupt undead on undead mobs but with mage weapon all you can effectively solo is undead monsters.

just chose either mithril robe or the knowledge one, they are both good, and you dont really need the set-bonus at all up to lvl 40, knowledge just saves you money since its cheaper.
Dont care about a weapon, just keep your cedar staff and heal in groups till you are lvl 40, save everything you get and work on c-grade already, that is where most healer classes start to use that crystal staff with mana up if they are grouping. PS: you can also keep the devotion tunic its jsut a bit low on pdef, the extra mana only helps when you have to buff and heal. |

Assuming you have all the money for twinked character, you best choice would be Staff of Life and Mithril robe set. Demon Fangs instead of SoL will do the job as well. Set is not that needed though. Just buy Elven Mithril robes, RIP gautnlets, Helmet and Iton boots - all from Giran. IF you find SoL selling for reasonable price (2,5-3kk), take it. If not - just buy Demon Fang in Giran.
Assuming you have no money... Buy some lower non-grade weapon that spends 1 sps per charge. And you are done for now. Devotion is not best set in the game, but it works good enough up to 40. Just stick to groups that do care about their healers, and you'll not die ever. Non-grade weapon (x1 sps) trick will save you some money you need. HEaling will be good enough with it anyway (nearly the same as with Cedar staff). Root and sleep won't be your job though. In fact, even with Cedar staff you'll have hard time sleeping/rooting mobs of your level, so you better avoid this group role. You'll be good without any additional equipment as buffer for a group. Till 40 you have all buffs your group needs (but zerk and holy weapon) and buffing full group will take all your mp. So you'll just buff, rest and help main healer in this case. Quite safe and profitable role, but it's in demand and as far as you prived buffs and occasional heals people will be hapy to take you in their groups. Then you can sell your Cedar staff and buy some d grade weapon (magic-oriented suits your needs). Don't rush to x3 sps weapons though. Best x2 sps weapon will be good enough, while it will save your money on dss (comparing to x3 sps weapons, of cause, you'l save much more money with x1 NG weapon). Where to hunt? Wherever your group comes to. You are not suited for solo in his gear. Now most players stick to catacombs and necropolises, so you'll easily find a group in one of them (cats in Dion area are those of your level). How to make money? I don't know. Trade is the key, but it's tedious process by itself, and I don't know how do you like it. Unfortunately you'll not make much without trade

well, just about everything covered in the replies so far, however my advice would be not to worry too much about a weapon being a healer. Most healers i know, and being one myself.. LE not DE though... concentrate on armour first, even in the best of groups you're bound to get hit sometimes, be it by a misplaces aoe mob or an overlooked spawn that wasnt caught fast enough. I would suggest saving for C grade (assuming you dont have money to twink your character with) and get a Karmian set and crystal staff with mana up... if your not terribly rich those will put a bit of a hole in your pocket, but a lot of healers use the staff permanently and never upgrade, because of cheaper bsps and cost on higher weapons. D grade levels usually go by so fast, by the time you saved enough for good armor/weapon its time for C anyway. ><

I am not an old player and indeed have only been playing since Nov. but after reading several posts I decided to try one of the suggestions for my SO and it works quite well. I have a macro setup for my robes and for my armor. When I play the part of healer I wear my robes and use my staff. The problem being though there are times that I am solo so I have to switch to light armor.
Off of a suggestion I bought the reinforced leather armor (+85 mana) and I got duels that are now +3. I have another character that I am trying to turn into a Prophet (duel boxing) so I take her with me and we go to OB. I pull them and root them so they cant run back in the camp and then take them out with swords. Having my second charcter has helped save me money on pots since she can throw me a heal from time to time. Another part of the persons suggestion with SO using armor had to do with dyes but I cant afford that yet to test out the theory. Just a suggestion, hope it helps. Oh yeah and on a final note, you can find the armor easy and its not that $$$ but they dont sell the boots. I had to login my dwarf and go to the wastelands and spoil the punchers to get the boots which are needed for the mana bonus. |

If all you are looking for is the mana boost, then the magic suits and mage weapons sre better for you. if you are looking to actually kill mobs, by having to work solo, then i would suggest either dual blades or a very nice set of fist weapons (scallop jamadhrs are a top d grade). I had my EE sleep the extra mobs and then root the one i wanted to kill. worked well for me. (unfortunately, i had to solo a lot) and in robes for the speed and class bonuses. With some time in groups i was able to get through to 40 with little difficulty.
