I've contacted tech support, but i think it doesn't hurt if i write a post here aswell
![]() After some probs with "The Gameguard update was canceled" on my 2nd pc i got it running again on it. But on my first PC i still have the "General Protection fault ::Init <- ::Init" thing. I'm running Win XP 64bit on an Intel Core2Duo, deleted my anti virus software and closed all background applications.

Someone needs a serious flogging or firing. You have secretly installed software that disables my virus scanner. ****it, this is not acceptable.

I just tried with same hardware running Vista 32
and Im getting the crit regarding the Audio too. Ive noticed on Vista64 the apps crashing are all 32 bits.. on a wild guess id say GG is trying to write in a memory area that should be left alone. Leave it alone, I say! ![]() OK .. another test .. tried same hardware again with win XP Pro 32 this time Works like a charm ! ![]() now i wonder... |

May I suggest that you revert the gameguard to the old version and let us play the game while the technical team troubleshoots it?

Same here folks. Old system, winXP 32 fully updated everything.
Had to safemode to delete gamegaurd(whats up with that btw?) only after a full file check and install of my system folder to be greeted with a bluescreen error involving my cdaudio.sys Uhh, Houston. We have a problem. P.S. Would really like to get this fixed soon. The DSS market needs me! |

Well, so I logged out of L2, got something to eat, come back a couple hours later (didn't even restart the PC back then so just a restart of L2) and I get the same critical error.
When L2 crashes it'll also terminate Firefox if the browser is running. However, the error will also occur with a closed browser. First a critical error that L2 catches: <font class="small">Code:[/color]<hr /><pre> OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600) CPU: GenuineIntel PentiumPro-class processor @ 2396 MHz with 2047MB RAM Video: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT (9371) General protection fault! yep, exactly the same as my problem... i sent some info to support and they told me to change my pagefile size ... like wth is that gonna do? not only that, they told me to change it to the size it was already set at, if they even read the dxdiag i sent they would've know that... then they said i had bad ram :S...
i think it is clear it is not our computers but something gameguard is doing |

I am a microsoft engineer. This dxdiag proves there is nothing wrong with directx. The issue is gameguard, clear and simple. They are injecting their dll into processes that it shouldn't and are attempting to do direct access which is why this causes a 0xc0000005 error, which is "unauthorized access" violation.
They should hire people that know what they are doing. This has nothing to do with the page file size or ram. Jesus, idiots everywhere >< roll the update back untill gameguard can test fully on 64bit systems... someone's head should roll on this one. just my .02 cents

Yes, I too am having same issue.. was logged in all day in shop mode. Then went to switch toons and got the DOT's.. so shut down, restarted, and guess what.. the new Gameguard bug got me.
As for my computer.. System is new, just built it in November. Win XP pro 64 bit.. Radon X1950 pro vid card Seriously NCsoft.. you need to get your stuff together. You are going to loose customers if you keep this up. |

Well, people on 32 bit systems seem to have the problem as well. And I highly doubt that the actual problem is a faulty sound-card that suddenly becomes apparent for lots of people on the same day. Up to this point, I never had a problem with sound, neither in L2 nor in any other application, and with the exception of L2 everything is still running just fine here.
One thing that got me thinking is that L2 crashes the browser as well. Might be a long shot but there has been a IE7 security fix a few days ago. So what people might have in common here is activated windows update/up to date system? Thought it beats me why the error wouldn't show right away but delayed. ::shrugs:: So might just be completely unrelated.

Aye, just commenting on the fact with such a wide range of people having problems.(64, 32, XP, Vista, old rigs, new systems) It probably isn't user end.
