I have a lvl 19 Human Fighter...but I am not sure what class line I want to follow. I like the idea of being a tank for raids through D-grade, but I have no idea what I will do after that, I heard lvling a Paladins is very slow. I like the idea of PvP with a Glad, but I hear you need to get your Glad pretty high lvl b4 it becomes useful.
Any thoughts, experiences, and opinions is appreciated

If you like the idea of tanking at low levels, you really dont need to be a true tank. If you like the gladiator and are worried about it not being useful in pvp until much later in the game, I ask why? Are you planning on being level 52 and pvp'ing people that are level 76? If you are level 52 only pvp people that are around your level.
No class is effective in pvp if they are much lower in level. If you are only focused on the end game, you will not have the patience to last until then. Unless of course you cheat your way up. Play what you think will be fun. I can almost guarantee that you will chose a different profession than what you chose today.

On less populated servers levling a tank isn't for anyone, but you're on bartz, and I don't know how it is there.
I often ask myself why I still keep soloing and looking for groups.

Gladiators are very fun if you like to push buttons a lot. All classes are more fun if you have a compliment of buffs. I can say from experience, leveling a tank without buffs is a test of patience to the tenth degree. If you wish to chose a tank, and are not going to have buffs all the time, I would chose the DA because the panther makes grinding a little less painful. I only chose to make a Tank because it suits my play style. (i mostly am doing something else when I play or may have to quickly answer the phone and that only allows me to play one handed. My nuker needed constant attention because they are so fragile.
Now that I am in the higher levels, I truly am glad that I chose the DA. It is a fun class to play, as long as you have at least level 58 prophet buffs.

Go Paladin. Too many Gladiators.
... Um.. yeah. To elaborate, I soloed (like, real solo. Self buffs.) my Paladin up to A grade, and it was a serious pain. Not that it was hard. It was just slow as hell. Then I finally said "screw it" and went out, stopped being a loner, made friends, and levelled fast. I don't think you should have any levelling issues, really. Unless you have no friends and/or a horrible clan. Though you'll pretty much be the loser of the group for a long time. Like the pick-up guy. The only time a tank is actually wanted is in raids. Since it sounds like you're interested in raids, that's probably a plus, but that's really all a tank has going for them. Anyways dont go Glad. /anti-glad

You can always go either way subclass the other
. But honestly, Tank classes you gotta be assertive and patient. Clan or no clan, its not easy. My paladin is 6x atm and I basically hit a brick wall atm in terms of getting groups. I almost gave up on my Knight mid 30s and feeling the pain right now in mid 60s. Goodluck to which ever you choose

Not everyone should play a tank class. It may be for you--if you are masochistic, like controlling small groups of mobs for others to kill, and are okay with taking 342 years to level it.
I am a tank by nature. I can't explain it--it's just an illness that doesn't seem to have a cure. I wanted DA mostly for the panther (which I mostly can't afford to summon anyway) but I've always loved tanking. If this is not you (disturbed) then for the love of all that's Holy pick the warrior. You can pole it at lower levels and dual it from C-grade on and solo while actually inflicting damage on mobs. In my mid-60's I can almost kill an Elpy on TI in 5 swings (2 misses and 3 hits)! The good news is I can shackle the elpy, stun the elpy, hate the elpy, horror the elpy, hamstring the elpy, poison the elpy--the bad news is I can't actually HURT the elpy. Go warrior.

Thanks everyone for sharing all your experiences and giving all your good advice. I think I will go Warrior as I think I want to do more with this character than just tank raids

Leveling a Tank solo alone is very slow but doable, I leveled a DA without using pather(laziness on my part with getting crystals)

Oh, I probably over-state things a bit (mostly to make people chuckle).
Damiel was our clan DA for a long time and was at 73 so he told me a lot and helped me a lot before he left the game. I actually try to exp every night for a bit and at least get 4-5% solo without the panther. I can do VoS pretty well with panther, Goddard area without the panther, etc. And once I get a little money re-accumulated I have 2 other minor things to complete (+3 on my DLE and +4 Str tat) which will help a bit more when I'm solo. I think the thing I look most forward to is that a number of clanmates are finally catching up and have arrived in A-grade so that we can put together parties for some of the catas (even if we have to stay in front rooms). The exp in those clan groups isn't exactly blazing but it's steady and breaks up the solo monotony. It might be that I manage to eek out a bit more exp than I let on ![]() (and now that you mention it, Shadowlf (on an alt on Lionna) did chat with me for the first time the other night--I'd be happy to consider him a resource)

No disrespect to damiel but leveling in Dark Crystal is not the speediest either. Check with shadow definatly a solid da on Lionna, also Sartigen is nearly 78 solo's a ton on his DA but also does some good group stuff with us as well.

[ QUOTE ]
So your saying I should go as a tank? [/ QUOTE ] I see you've already leveled support-type toons---which is very much at the heart of being "the tank". I've played in many situations with various tanks at many levels--maybe 1/2 of them should stick with tanking and the rest should choose something else. If you have that tank state of mind (a little eccentric and like to control things and can stand watching your HP fall like a stone while remaining calm)--then go for it. Maybe you'll be a natural. ((I'll definately see if Sartigen will talk to me and offer some tips over the next few nights--it would help to have some current information from someone who is already at the top. Thanks))

It all all depends on these questions
Do you want to take damage or dishout damage(can;t have both) Are you a noncautious or cautious person Do you like to lead or follow Are you patient or nonpatient Are you willing to save others, or worry about yourself Are you very strategic or just like to push 2-3 buttons? answer these questions and the choice will be clear

I never lost to a Glad and I'm a DA and only against two glads did I use the panther.
