Server Merges Coming to Lineage II

Hi everybody,

Over the past several months, we've received much feedback requesting server merges. Up to this point, we have not publically discussed any specifics about server merge possibilities, as we have been working to identify the most appropriate course of action. We have been reviewing all of your feedback as well as statistics of server populations and the optimal population averages. We will be merging the servers.

The server merge specifics are being planned and we do not yet have the dates on when they will take place. For a server to have a fun and functional player base, it should have an average population of 3,000 players. The server merges should result as close to this number as possible. We will keep you informed throughout this process and you will be well-prepared by the time this happens.

We would like to open up this thread for discussion. Please know that this thread is not a place for accusations or flames against NCsoft or against one another. It is not a place to report in-game issues or inquire about other aspects of the game. We will highly moderate this thread, so please keep it cordial. We sincerely want to hear your thoughts, but we would sincerely appreciate them being appropriate.

Instead of merging servers we will much appreciate keeping them alive and keep the interest of people for this game. Events, more moderation from GM's, bring updates earlier to NA serves make the game fun again.

I see the point of having a healthy server population, but I hope you learned from the last merges and don't put servers with super high lvl dominating clans together with a lower average lvl server. Because that will just result in the lowbies leaving.

If they want 3k populations then it may end up being 1 Euro server (maybe 2) and 2 NA servers.

I'm for the server merge but I sincerely hope that the merge will be coupled with increased effort in actively curbing the use of third party software. If you can do this, we may just have a game again.


Also, like I posted in another thread (and if it's possible), let's set up the PTS as a tournament to decide the fate of the clan halls in the game instead of auction.

Hi Sace, I really wanted to point this out to you.

Looking at these statistics:

If you put it to where there is 1 american and 1 euro server.
American server = about 4000 players
Euro server = about 3500 players.

This would also make monitoring for the GM's a much easier task.

This is just my 2 cents though.

I think that pretty much says, if they want 3000 players for an Active server, they go to 1 Euro and 1 NA server, as after the dust settles, I am guessing half the population will have quit becuase of the merges. Leaving, well still less then the 3000 they are hoping for.

Guess its time to look for a new game.

I hope you're gonna make a new server with a new business model and rates too, would bring A LOT of old players back! Look at Ragnarok online, worked great for them!

1 - What servers are being merged?
2 - How will you deal with the "cluster bomb" that happened with the last one?
3 - Are you going to have more clan halls on the merged server?

For those of you who feel merges are a bad idea, can you please expound on your opinions? While we understand no major decisions can please everyone, we'd like to better understand your reasons.

i think ... merges are necessary.... we need think about the number of the CH too ....

there are a lot of places to do so ... in Heine or Oren as exemple ...

as same ... Sieges CH (Hideway, Beast, Devasted, FotD) are not enough

would it be possible to complete fantasy island with one too ?

one as the same as Rainbow Springs Chateau .. with some clan cooperation with mini games ?

to finish ..; we would really appreciate any Bid in CH could be done with 3rd party programm or after their close, you would check logs of each Clan Leader as you did for April fool's event ... and give the CH to the first EULA respectful clan leader in the list

it would be really great to maximize the maximum bid of CH depending og their classifications ... C grade CH must be cheaper than A grade ones ... that would be more logical.

ending my suggestions on CH ... It would be really nice also to check about owners ... some are more than fade up to see unactive clans keep owning them ...

about servers ...

3 would be more interesting than 2...1 US 1 Euro and ...what about one roleplay/pve server ?

in whole servers there are some clans/players who are truly not interested in pvp except on sieges and territory wars ... why not letting them one server ?

you could also manage this one on middle time (not euro and not us time ... why not like +3 gmt or +4 gmt ?)
