Any Clan tips

Im looking for any tips to be a leader. SHould i spend sp to get sp, spend adena to get adena. ANything will help.

Depends on what class and race you are, personally dont bother saving SP at low lvls .. wait til you hit lvl 25 or so and can rake in SP fast .... I've gotten over 80k SP on my knight within 2-3 levels

Sorry i can answer much my friend and clan leader found out the hard an slow way (save till like lvl 30) I
ve heard that it's better to wait until lvl 30 sumthin to start lvlin up clan. but i'm sure someone else can give u the fast and efficient answer to your questions but i want to add one more question for them to answer:

Maybe someone could post a guide on how to build a good clan website from how to find a good host all the way down to what content to include.

If u dont feel like doing that at least check out what i started for my friends's clan
and post any suggestion either as a replay to this thread or on our bare bone disscusson forums

Hmm,

let me throw in my 0,02 $. Building up a clan will demand a lot of gathering SP - besids the one you need to raise your skilllevels you need a lot to raise the clan. E.G. for clan level 3 you will need 680.000 sp. And believe me, all your clannies want to have that tag about their heads. So start the clan at level 0, get to level 1 asap but then work on your skills and level of your character. With level 30+ it will be easy to get level 2 of clan. Share the load, let your members gain the adnea and you care about the sp. So all can bring in their part.

Concerning Level 3 you will need the Proof of Blood but thats a hard hunt. The level ground is full of though mobs and you will need a lot 40-50 levels to be safe there. So time enough to level your members and grind the necessary sp.

Soncerning the website, well I all I can say is : YOU NEED A FORUM. Thats the main heart of your clan, they need a place to communicate outside game. We use Invision but any other forum is nice too. If you want to have a look : www.undomiel.info.

Also make sure you have chosen a character that you will be able to play for a long time. No point chosing one you will get bored with in a few months if your going to lvl a clan. Usually good to set your clans goals before recruiting to. Ie whether you want to be evil and ks people or a good clan etc.

I was also thinking about starting a clan. I thought this post had some really good replies to help my decision too.. But I have heard a good way to get sp for a clan is by the kind of character u pick? Is that true? I do always see a lot of humans and dwarfs being clan leaders. Does that have something to do w/ their race? Just thought that I would ask since I am an orc ! I still think I will make a clan tho, just figured this was a helpful question.

Its really a matter of classes that aren't skill dependent (IE: mages/dagger users). Personally i think the best clan leader is a dwarf or a dark avenger, not many skills needed (like absolutely necessary) and they can take hits. Everybody targets clan leaders in pvp and sieges ^_^

Don't worry about what char you're leading your clan with. Enjoy that char and make it something you want to play, because you won't be able to have another in that clan and you're going to be farming tons of SP.

Now, if your clan wants to be X level by X date, you always have the option of...urm...arranging unfortunate accidents for your character. A lot of clan leaders do this because it allows you to level your clan and your skills at the same time. Never sacrifice skillsets for clan levels because those skills will help rake in the sp faster. A higher level of blaze or shield mastery will keep you on your feet longer and will make your life a lot easier.

Like everyone's said, don't even worry about levelling the clan until your thirties. I'd say post-35 is good, because then you're also going to be avoiding dinging like the plague so you can save sp and cash for your second transfer.

Some people may push the tags issue, but ignore them. If they're in that much of a rush and aren't willing to respect your needs as both a player and a clan leader, they're not worth having in your guild. Be choosey with your members and make sure you can tolerate them. Check that they're trustworthy-your clan's reputation is directly linked to you reputation and vice versa.

Know your clan goals early. Talk it out with your clanmates. Do you want to be an omg uber alliance or just a nice, friendly place to hang out? Want to be really rich? Want to PK all of those stupid dark elves for not wearing underwear? A clan with goals tends to work better than a clan that's just adrift.

Don't worry about recruiting for a while. If you've got friends, pick them up and hang out with them. You've got limited spots though, so watch out. And don't be afraid to boot people that ruin the clan's fun. The day you start the clan you don't need to post that you're looking for members though. Give it time. Use your days as a little clan to build up a reputation.

I've seen a lot of clans come and go, and it seems that the ones that rush to the top and throw around their weight are the ones that last the least amount of time. It's the clans that start small and are willing to bide their time and build their skills and relationships that are the most successful.

And yes. Forums are a must, if only so you guys know what's going on when you're not IG together.

Ok i'm not the best at color choices what i was tryin to portray that the different type of news(game news,webnews,annoucemts) are like color coded but am i allowed to guess that the bright colors dont work so well with the dark theme.

Oh and to the person that said get a forum here's my sit. I either need to find a cheap(i'm a college student) decent host that supports Sql databasing then i could use some free forum enginess that i found (phpbb, obenbb) or if u know of any free boards that allow you to have a space on them for clan stuff (kinda like ezboards but not so complicated). let me know plz thx

Anyway, as far as webspace goes...My clan is just using space on a domain our leader already had. Fuitadnet (what my kid sister uses, no experience here myself) has some pretty cheap basic packages (I think ten bucks a month is the lowest).

You could also try Proboards or something like that. I googled "Free Bulletin Boards" and came up with this. I'm sure there are more out there, as there were a LOT of returns from the search.

The clan boards don't have to be flashy. They just have to be there.

Heck, if that's not an option you could set up an e-mail list or something for on-going discussions. Those are a lot more difficult to manage and keep organised though.

I did not read through all the posts but here are a few things which I would suggest:

Get voice chat, either teamspeak or venrilo. This breaks up alot of the monotony and is a necessity in sieges, raids, etc.

A website or atleast some forums, is invaluable in organizing sieges, raids, and is a great aid in recruitment. This also is a means for you to get your policies out to your community in black and white.

Stick to a game plan. If you have policies against certain codes of conduct, pking, etc. stick to them. Don't be afraid to boot people.

Level your clan quickly. Some may disagree with me on this, however, if your clan becomes stagnant people will leave. Progress and advancement are encouraging.
I would also suggest against deleveling in order to gain SP. My suggestion would be to gain levels as quick as possible by spaming SS and soloing if and when possible. You will find that SP comes much quicker at 40+.

Make your clanmates give something back. They should contribute to the clan when possible. Whether this is through material donations, adena, or just a farm day per week make it happen. You will get burnt out and frustrated trying to do everything yourself.

Voice chat is nice, but it's not for everyone. Especially if you have members with college connections or dialup it may be difficult for them to run both the voice chat and the game at the same time. Besides, there's a certain niftiness to having the text in front of you. But it's a case-by-case decision. Nothing's perfect for every stingle clan.

Besides...who wants to hear a thirty-year-old man's voice for that delf chick with the stabby?

lol yeah true. I guess it does depend on the clan you are creating. Do you roleplay? probably don't want VC then. Personally we are in it for the PvP so we want every advantage and/or tool we can get.

The other main disadvantage with VC that wasnt touched upon was it creates a rift in clans if not everyone uses it all the time.

If 75% of the clan uses it, they probably wont talk much in /clan. Thus making the other 25% feeling left out and more then likely they'll leave. (If you require it, thats diffrent I guess)

Its the same with alliances as well. If not everyone in a alliance uses it, it leaves those who dont feeling left out of the loop, since people who do use VC dont actually type a whole lot in the game.

Yeah I would have to agree with you there. It can cause a bit of seperation, but to us ( for our needs ) the pros far outweigh the cons.

There is no way I could play this game for 2-6 hours w/o it. In seiges it is so much more effective then normal chat.

The best way to get sp for your clan is to buy NO SKILLS from level 25/24 until level 40, aside from a few choice skills. Mages, contrary to commmon beleife, have the easiest time getting a level 3 clan. The only skills they ever need to buy from level 20-40 are flamestrike and poison cloud. By the time they reach level 40, after leveling wiht just these skills, a mage should have enoygh sp for both a level 3 clan, and every level 4 skill.
